The Accounting Specialist II plays a crucial role in maintaining the Company’s financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting principles, and contributes to the overall success of the Finance Department. This individual will be responsible for the accounting functions related to the Feed Mill and Live Operations (Ops).

Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities:
\r\n\r\nProcesses, verifies, and organizes weekly plant settlements and documentation.\r\nProvides servicemen with accurate and timely closeout information weekly.\r\nVerifies flock charges, including feed returns, medication, and supply charges.\r\nHandles the reconciliation of all Brooder Move transfers and Poult Placements on a weekly basis.\r\nBacks the Live Ops Accounting Supervisor with general ledger by recording transactions, preparing journal entries, and conducting account reconciliations.\r\nEnsures accurate execution of weekly grower settlement payments within the contract time frame.\r\nTracks grower deductions such as Housing Improvement Plans, Mid Flock Advances, and Propane.\r\nPrepares and reconciles grower accounts receivable (AR).\r\nSustains positive relationships with employees, leadership, vendors, and growers by addressing questions, providing documentation, and resolving flock accounting issues.\r\nCompiles grower payment data and maintains the Grower Tax ID file used for 1099s.\r\nUpdates and maintains Vendor/ Grower/Bank Assignment information in M-Tech. \r\nProcesses invoices with corresponding purchase orders (POs), verifying accuracy, addressing discrepancies, and ensuring timely payments to vendors. \r\nPerforms general office and accounting duties, including filing and mail management.\r\nSupports with internal and external audit requests as needed.\r\nMaintains and updates standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the Live Ops Accounting department.\r\nAssists other accounting positions within Live Ops Accounting and trains cross-functionally to serve as backup. \r\nPerforms other duties as assigned.\r\n\r\n\r\n
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
\r\n\r\nSuperior verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. \r\nDetailed oriented with a high level of accuracy and precision. \r\nExcellent critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. \r\nCapability of operating independently, under direct supervision, and collaboratively with other stakeholders. \r\nStrong organizational and time management skills with ability to effectively manage multiple priorities.\r\nDemonstrates the ability to tackle issues, inquiries, and concerns promptly and proactively.\r\nStrong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting standards. \r\nProficient in Microsoft Suites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc.) and accounting software such as M-Tech, SAP, QuickBooks, or similar. \r\n\r\nEducation & Experience:
\r\n\r\nHigh School Diploma, GED, or equivalent is required. \r\nAssociate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration, or related field.\r\nWill consider a combination of education & experience in lieu of a degree.\r\n3+ years of accounting experience with an emphasis on cost accounting.\r\nPrior work experience in industries such as Manufacturing, Food Manufacturing, or Retail is preferred.\r\n\r\nWorking Conditions:
\r\n\r\nWork is performed in an office environment with telephones, personal computers, and printers.\r\nThe noise level of the environment is usually moderate. \r\nSedentary position with seldom to occasional lifting of less than 15 pounds. \r\nMay require standing less than or equal to 1/3 of the day. \r\nFlexibility and willingness to work overtime and additional shifts as required, including weekends, and holidays if necessary.\r\nWillingness and ability to travel up to 5% of time. \r\n\r\n\r\n
