Accounting Supervisor

Westminster Communities of Florida is the state's largest not-for-profit provider of senior housing and services and makes a difference in the lives of more than 7,000 residents and 2,500 team members, every day. We are looking for a full-time Accounting Supervisor. This role is responsible for overseeing the financial accounting functions of either the Life Plan or Housing Divisions of the organization.
Essential Job Functions:
Supervision & Leadership: Manage and mentor the division accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment. Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide professional development opportunities. Provides support to community leadership. Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation of accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Ensure timely and compliant reporting to internal stakeholders and external funders. Review journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as nonprofit accounting standards and industry specific regulations (e.g., GAAP, OIR). Work collaboratively with the internal auditor for both internal and external audit. Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in accounting operations. Develop and enforce accounting policies and procedures. Collaboration & Support: Work closely with other departments to provide financial information and support strategic initiatives. Serve as a resource for staff regarding financial inquiries and accounting practices.Essential Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role, preferably within the nonprofit sector. Prefer knowledge of the Office of Insurance regulation requirements for Life Plan Communities. Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles and practices. Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Acumatica, Sage) and Microsoft Excel. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
