Accounting Supervisor- Evisceration/Boning

Job Summary: 

\r\n

The Evisceration/Boning Accounting Supervisor oversees the financial operations related to the evisceration and boning processes at our manufacturing plant located in Mt. Olive, NC. This individual will be responsible for ensuring accurate operational, technical, and consultative functions including but not limited to yield reporting, variance reporting, inventory, and production related research and analysis. Additional duties include foster and developing a team of accounting professionals. The Evisceration/Boning Accounting Supervisor will work closely with production and other departments to support financial decision-making and operational efficiency.

Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities: 

\r\n\r\nOversees accumulation of departmental production yield reporting data.\r\nTrains, mentors, and develops a team of accounting staff by fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.\r\nGenerates and analyzes actual costs versus standard costs from various sources.\r\nConducts regular reconciliations of accounts, resolving any discrepancies in a timely manner.\r\nAssembles and reviews yield and labor variance reports on a weekly and monthly occurrence, ensuring accuracy.\r\nExecutes ad hoc reporting and analytics as needed.\r\nCommunicates production reporting results to upper management.\r\nPrepares and/or enters journal entries.\r\nProvides Month End/Closing Support, reporting and analysis.\r\nConducts all accounting activities, adhering to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and Company procedures.\r\nMonitors the completion of all records submitted through the time record system (UKG/Kronos) and processes the Plant’s payroll.\r\nCoordinates and directs budget preparation with the Production and Operations teams by using Zero Base Budgeting methods and financial projections, establishes and maintains planning and control procedures, including Activity Based Costing (ABC) cost accounting system, and assesses and reports variances.\r\nAssists in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial plans, providing insights and recommendations to upper management.\r\nParticipates in production related analysis and discussions.\r\nCollaborates with internal and external auditors, providing necessary documentation and support during audits.\r\nReviews and analyzes financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.\r\nPartners and aids the Production Reporting & Accounting Manager with designated projects and assignments.\r\nPerforms other duties as assigned.\r\n\r\n

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

\r\n\r\nExcellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate cross functionally and build working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.\r\nThorough understanding of accounting principles, GAAP and financial reporting standards.\r\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.\r\nPossess exceptional time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritizing workloads, and meeting deadlines.\r\nContinuous improvement mindset with a passion for automating/standardizing processes.\r\nDetail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy in financial reporting.\r\nCommitted to high ethical standards and integrity in managing confidential and financial information.\r\nProficient with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, etc.) and accounting software such as SAP or other ERP (enterprise resource planning) systems. \r\n\r\n

Education & Experience:

\r\n\r\nBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required.\r\n\r\nWill consider a combination of education and experience in lieu of a degree.\r\n\r\n\r\n4+ years of relevant accounting experience, serving in roles such as a Financial Analyst, Staff Accountant, Internal Auditor, or similar.\r\nAt least 2 years in a supervisory role managing a team of 3+ direct reports.\r\nPrior work experience in the food manufacturing industry, particularly in further processing is highly desired. \r\n\r\n

Working Conditions:   

\r\n\r\nWork is performed in an office environment with telephones, personal computers, and printers.\r\nThe noise level of the environment is usually moderate.\r\nSedentary position with seldom to occasional lifting of less than 25 pounds.\r\nMay require standing less than or equal to 1/3 of the day.\r\nWillingness and ability to travel up to 10% of the time. \r\n\r\n
