ACCOUNTING SUPERVISOR (REVIEW & ANALYSIS)

Job Summary:The incumbent will supervise associates involved in the review and analysis of operating statements for NEX. This role entails a detailed examination of accounting data derived from NEX to support the development of monthly operating statements, ensuring their accuracy and integrity.Duties and Responsibilities:- Oversee the preparation of both preliminary and final operating statements for designated Exchanges.- Supervise the creation of journal entries for incorporation into the operating statements.- Exhibit proficiency in analyzing data from multiple NEXCOM interfaced systems, including ATS, SIM, STS, VR, Richter, AR, IM200, ZP275, and IM900.- Review and analyze various computerized accounting data, which includes month-end journal accounts and accruals related to operating statements, payroll, sales audits, inventory, and other accounting operations.- Identify discrepancies or inconsistencies, investigate issues, and implement corrective actions to maintain accurate records.- Manage the distribution of expenditures across various accounts and track inconsistencies to identify sources of inaccuracies.- Compile periodic reports by extracting necessary accounting information from maintained records.- Allocate actual amounts for payroll and expenses pertaining to assigned activities.- Extract data from accounting summary reports and update the final allocations in the operating statements.- Post payroll advances, miscellaneous accounts payable, and unidentified cash receipts to ledgers, ensuring they align with the control ledger.- Verify details in the ledger against the end-of-month purchase journal to confirm reconciliation.- Review various line items in the operating statements for the assigned Exchanges, ensuring balance agreement and reconciling any differences.- Conduct analyses of accounts and operating statements, providing management with insights on underperforming areas, reasons for variances in gross profits, and details regarding departmental operations.- Identify financial trends in individual operating statements that may suggest adverse financial conditions.- Conduct corporate-level reviews of preliminary and subsequently revised operating statements for anomalies related to inventory, profits, and expenses.- Perform extensive data analysis, comparative assessments, and initiate investigations where necessary for any identified issues.- Maintain effective communication with Exchange personnel regarding required information and addressing discrepancies encountered during reviews.- Supervise subordinate associates, providing training, answering inquiries, and resolving complex issues.- Uphold performance standards and conduct performance evaluations.- Work autonomously under general supervision, utilizing initiative and sound judgment.- The accuracy and timeliness of maintained and processed data will be the primary metrics for performance evaluation.- Perform other related duties as assigned.General ExperienceThe applicant possesses three years of experience in accounting functions, which has facilitated the application of knowledge related to established accounting practices and data processing procedures.Substitution of Education for ExperienceOne year of academic study beyond the high school level may be substituted for nine months of experience, up to a maximum of three years for candidates holding a four-year bachelor's degree.Specialized ExperienceThe applicant has one year of responsible experience in areas such as analyzing, classifying, or recording transactions; balancing, reconciling, adjusting, or examining accounts; and developing or verifying accounting data for reports, statements, and schedules. This includes the analysis of accounting data and the design or development of more efficient processing methods. The candidate has demonstrated strong mathematical aptitude and accuracy, significant attention to detail, effective cognitive skills in applying procedures and resolving discrepancies, and proficiency in financial software.
