The Columbia office of Nelson Mullins is in search of an Accounting Systems Analyst to join its fast-growing Accounting Department!

A Day in the Life

The Columbia Accounting Department handles the needs of Nelson Mullins offices across the country. You’ll join a supportive team that thrives on communication, accuracy, and a desire to serve their clients well!  You will be responsible for the improvement and operation of financial systems connected to the collection, retrieval, accessibility, and usage of financial data to facilitate inter-department planning and activities. Assist the Accounting department in the development and use of financial system applications including third party integrated financial applications. Utilize automated systems in the analysis of data discrepancies. Conduct assessment on software and hardware needs and design new or modified systems to meet changing demands. Responsible for the maintenance of internal database files and tables and develop custom reports to meet the requirements of Accounting department management. Configure system settings and options, as well as create specifications for systems to meet financial requirements. Provide expert knowledge to users in the area of automated financial systems. Provide leadership to cross-functional linked teams (Accounting and IT) in addressing financial or systems issues.

You are a natural collaborator who works well within a team environment to get the job done. As the bridge between the Accounting and IT departments, you will seek solutions to help them achieve their respective goals. Your background should include broad knowledge of techniques in collecting data, analyzing information, generating reports, programming, and SQL Server. You may be required to have a working knowledge of automation/programming and expertise in managing data in relational databases, as well as the application of data visualization tools. You should be able to create automated reports and self-service tools, and use business intelligence tools. The Accounting Systems Analyst will be required to identify problems or gaps in the financial systems of the law firm, solve problems in a creative manner, and implement opportunities for improvement. Applicants for this role should possess strong oral and written communication skills. Advanced computer skills are required, including a basic understanding of computer networks, Windows 11, and Office 365, along with advanced skills in SSRS and PowerBI reporting. You possess the ability to accomplish projects by working with and through others. The Accounting Systems Analyst must also consistently document procedures undertaken to address a problem. At least four years of law firm experience and experience with Aderant are required.
