Job Description
The Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals, & Licensing (DIAL) is seeking a capable and enthusiastic individual to join the department as an Accounting Technician 2!
Who We Are
DIAL is a multifaceted regulatory agency charged with protecting the health, safety, and well-being of Iowans. DIAL employees are responsible for inspecting and licensing health care providers and suppliers, restaurants and grocery stores, social and charitable gambling operations, and hotels and motels. In addition, DIAL employees investigate alleged fraud in Iowa's public assistance programs and conduct contested case hearings to settle disputes between Iowans and various State and local government agencies.
DIAL’s mission isAchieve Compliance Through Education, Regulation, and Due Process for a Safe and Healthy Iowa. To accomplish our Mission, the individual selected for this position will provide outstanding customer service and accounting services to the agency.

The successful candidate for this fast-paced and critical Accounting Technician 2 is a focused and innovative problem solver. The position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer, and is located at 6200 Park Des Moines. Desired abilities include:

What You’ll Do
You will be an integral member of our fiscal team, providing direct support to the agency’s financial operations by:
+ Completing pre-auditing of claims
+ Preparing cash and credit card receipts
+ Reconciling the department’s travel and procurement credit cards
+ Extracting reports and data from the state’s financial systems
+ Documenting processes and improving desktop procedures
+ Assisting the Chief Financial Officer with other projects

Minimum Qualification Requirements
Graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalency and four years of clerical accounting experience which involved the compilation, tabulation, examination, verification or recording of financial, statistical or related fiscal programs using elementary bookkeeping principles and practices;
OR
the successful completion of a post-high school vocational/technical, business college, or area community college curriculum in accounting which included concentrated course work equivalent to twenty semester hours (or more) in accounting;
OR
an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of employment in clerical office work for each year of the required education;
OR
substituting the successful completion of thirty semester hours or the academic equivalent in a post high school Business, Accounting or closely related curriculum for each year of the required experience;
OR
any equivalent combination of qualifying education or experience;
OR
one year of experience as an Accounting Technician 1 in the State of Iowa classified service will be considered as qualifying;
OR
one year of work experience as an Accounting Clerk 3 in the State of Iowa classified service will be considered as qualifying.
