This position exists to ensure compliance with PERA contribution legal mandates and standards so that pension plan coverage and benefit payments are properly awarded to 170,000 covered public employees. This is accomplished through two main activities: 1) analyzing and reconciling salary, contribution and employment data reported on a daily basis by participating public employers, and 2) providing one-on-one instruction, explanation, and assistance to approximately 2,000 governmental employer representatives who must carry out the reporting provisions of PERA law and policy. This position is directly involved in making decisions regarding the reconciliation and disposition of all employee deductions, employer contributions, and miscellaneous payments received by the association. This position is approved for telework (https://mn.gov/mmb-stat/policies/1422-telework.pdf) based on the needs of the agency and other dependencies.Initial training of up to three (3) months will be done in-person at the PERA Office located in St. Paul, MN. Once initial training is complete, this position will have a hybrid telework schedule with the requirement to be in-office one (1) day per week and with an occasional need to be in-office twice per week as scheduled. Also indicate the beginning and ending month and year for each job held_** **_._** Experience **_must clearly_** demonstrate the following: + Basic accounting procedures skills sufficient to complete forms and documents that comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), sufficient to analyze, interpret, and prepare financial information, records and reports + Ability to use an electronic record-keeping system to accurately enter, maintain and report on data, reconcile, detect and correct data inconsistencies, and update information for governmental or private agencies related to pensions or banking + Knowledge of and the ability to use spreadsheet and word processing software, such as Microsoft Word and Excel, to create spreadsheets and other documents + Verbal and written communication skills sufficient to provide effective prompt, courteous, and accurate information to internal and external customers + Math skills sufficient to calculate, review and reconcile data and balance accounts **Preferred Qualifications** + Knowledge of Minnesota statues and policies that govern pension funds, member enrollment, and contributions + Experience in processing payroll, accounting or bookkeeping + Two years of customer service experience as described above **Physical Requirements** Requires occasional lifting and carrying of articles such as file folders, ledgers, and small office equipment.
