State Classified HourlyNo Overtime Eligible Description of Work Unit The Department of Computer Science has 1100 undergraduate majors and 279 graduate students in our Masters and Ph.D. programs as of Fall 2023. The department increased its number of undergraduate women studying CS by 126% and increased its number of graduate women studying CS by 104% between 2018 and 2022, supported by a Northeastern Center for Inclusive Computing best practices grant. The department’s 22 tenure-track faculty are strong in research programs in algorithms, artificial intelligence, software engineering, big data, bioinformatics, computer vision, distributed systems, augmented and virtual reality, networks, parallel computing, security, and computer science education. It has 10 non-tenure track faculty members who assist with the department’s teaching mission and 15 staff members who support the overall teaching and research missions of the department. This includes managing department funds, budgeting, performance of accounts payable and purchasing functions, managing foundation accounts, overseeing distributions of revenue funds, processing internal billings, facilitating department travel requests and reimbursements, and submitting payroll actions. Payroll functions include system processing of student hires, graduate assistant appointments, state classified assignments, faculty, and administrative professional appointments. Reports directly to department Business Officer and informally to department Chair. Prepares quarterly financial reports and disseminates to department Business Officer and department Chair. Advises department Business Officer and department Chair on appropriate and available funding sources for budget construction and year-end projections. Audits and balances department funds monthly. Functions as the department’s financial officer for department funds only. Approves related financial transactions in Kuali. Manages all department travel from request to reimbursement. Functions as the PCARD manager for the department; reallocates charges and maintains documentation per CSU policy. Designates source funding and utilizes Accounts Receivable sponsor billing portal to facilitate graduate assistant tuition remission. Identifies any accounting discrepancies and takes appropriate action to resolve. Submits REU and stipend payment requests in Kuali or to Accounts Receivable. Verifies income derived from distance education and processes supplemental pay accordingly. Updates and manages department’s plan for 21 fund. Tracks and coordinates department Foundation funds. Responds to accounting related inquiries and information requests from internal and external CSU persons. Sets up vendors in Kuali in order to facilitate purchasing and payment of invoices. Develops and maintains pertinent financial records per CSU policies. Manages petty cash fund. Initiates new hire and assignment changes in Oracle for hourly and salaried employees through manual entry and TMS (Talent Management System) integrations. Ensures all onboarding paperwork is collected for new hires. Initiates background checks for applicable employees not processed through TMS . Serves as the Administrator for student hourly employment postings through Handshake. Oversees the TimeClock Plus ( TCP ) system for the department, including hourly reporting and leave reporting for salary personnel. Creates and processes payment redistributions as needed. Facilitates yearly SALX process with department chair and College of Natural Science. Maintains all employee records in Equifax (I-9 System) including new hire and reverification of employment status for international employees. Initiates supplemental pay electronic forms. Works with graduate program director, undergraduate director of advising, and research PI’s (principle investigators) on graduate assistantships, undergraduate teaching/research assistants, and other department staff opportunities for all new hires and changes each semester. Manages department copier contract and copy codes. Tracks monthly CSU internal phone charges.
