Description We are in search of a meticulous and dedicated Accounts Payable Accountant to join our team in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In this role, you will be chiefly responsible for the administration of subcontracts, purchase orders, and the accounts payable database. You will also oversee the processing and review of invoices, the preparation of checks, and the compliance with all relevant regulations.
Responsibilities:
• Administer subcontracts and purchase orders within the Job Cost System
• Oversee the submission of invoices by Subcontractors and Suppliers in accordance with agreements
• Maintain and update the Accounts Payable Database, including vendor information and Federal Tax ID Numbers
• Ensure the correct receipt of Subcontractor/Suppliers Waivers of Lien
• Comply with requirements for W-9’s, Insurance Certificates, EEO, and other documents from Subcontractors and Suppliers
• Prepare checks and schedule their issuance
• Resolve any discrepancies in purchase orders, contracts, invoices, or payments
• Review the statements of vendors
• Oversee the posting of accounts payable invoices for multiple construction projects in the general ledger
• Process and review employee expense reports
• Compile necessary information for external auditors, as required
• Take appropriate payment discounts when possible
• File 1099’s annually with the IRS
• Organize Project Files according to project document guidelines Requirements
• Minimum of 2 years experience in an Accounts Payable Accountant role or similar position.
• Proficiency in account reconciliation and accounts payable (AP).
• Experience with check runs and coding invoices.
• Proficient in data entry and invoice processing.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with accounting software, specifically Sage 300.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred.
