Accounts Payable Specialist

Remote work would be considered with the ability to travel to Dulles, VA.** **Overview:** Nightwing, a $1.8 billion intelligence services company, is hiring an Accounts Payable Specialist II, this role will focus on processing accounts payable invoices, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with corporate policies and industry standards. The primary responsibility of the Accounts Payable Specialist II is to perform the day-to-day review of accounts payable transactions including vendor invoice review, invoice analysis and monitoring within the invoice system. Ensures client satisfaction through open communication, managing expectations and meeting deadlines. **Duties And Responsibilities:** Monitor the accuracy and timeliness of invoice entry, coding for payment processing in accordance with company policies. Reviews vendor files throughout the accounting period with additional emphasis at year-end to ensure information supports financial transactions and payments processed. Ensures transactions are processed consistent with Nightwing policies and procedures. Corresponds with and responds to inquiries from vendors, contractors, employees, and approvers of invoices. Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors, addressing any issues or discrepancies in a timely manner. Support month-end close activities related to AP processes Ensure compliance with all relevant internal controls, accounting policies, and regulatory requirements. Support the annual preparation, distribution, and filing of 1099s, ensuring compliance with relevant tax regulations. **Other Responsibilities** Learn and understand the Treasury department and Nightwing environment, strategic goals, guidelines, policies, and procedures. Support the Treasury department in monthly and yearly accounting close. Support the Treasury department in internal and external audit. Support the Treasury department and Nightwing in business process improvement. Provide excellent customer care to both internal and external stakeholders. Performs other duties as assigned or required. Working knowledge of related industry framework (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Must be detailed oriented and possess strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills. Effectively communicate and interact with people with diverse backgrounds and abilities. Must have demonstrated customer service-oriented skills. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. **Required Skills** Must have at least 5 years of experience processing AP invoices in a government contracting company and working knowledge of government payment requirements including small business/pay when paid. Familiarity with bank portals, automated file processing, and error resolution. Experience with financial systems including Deltek Costpoint, financial analysis and reporting, and financial record keeping. Ability to identify issues and errors, investigate causes, and determine requirements for resolution. Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley compliance requirements, including identifying and documenting key controls and processes and supporting internal controls testing. **Desired Skills:** Strong interpersonal skills are vital to this role, as is the ability to interact with all levels of internal colleagues and vendors to provide accurate guidance and manage relationships and processes. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
