Union Tank Car Company (UTLX) manufactures, leases, and repairs railcars in North America for railroads and industrial companies. POSITION SUMMARY:

The Accounts Receivables Specialist is responsible for maintaining the Accounts Receivable aging system, generating aging reports, and managing the credit and collection processes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Post daily cash receipts promptly, ensuring they are matched with the appropriate outstanding invoices and applying miscellaneous checks received. Reconcile posted receipts to the bank statement daily.Resolve payment issues such as short payments, overpayments, or unidentified payments through research and communication with customers, sites, Revenue and Billing Administrators, and sales teams.Collaborate with Revenue and Billing Administrators to apply credits to customer accounts.Maintain and reconcile the monthly aging report to the general ledger.Ensure timely customer payments, including the collection of past-due accounts.Collaborate with the Controller to assess and update customer credit limits quarterly and provide monthly exception reports for customers exceeding established credit limits.Set credit limits for new customers using valid information from credit agencies and other sources, in collaboration with Revenue and Billing Administrators.Maintain the customer Masterfile, including the setup of new customers and updates to existing customer information, in compliance with company policies and internal controls.

SKILLS/SPECIFICATIONS:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Knowledge of basic accounting principles and related reports and statements.Proficiency in operating a calculator and computer to manage accounting information on ERP systems.Effective communication skills with the ability to persuade.Attention to detail and accuracy in task completion.Physical ability to bend, stoop, and stretch for filing activities.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS: 

Bachelor's degree or High School Diploma with 5 years of related work experience.Minimum of 2 years of experience using ERP software for cash receipts application.Proficient in Excel and applicable query tools.Prior experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX is preferred.
