Position Summary: The Accounts Receivable (AR) Specialist will setup, maintain, process, and produce reports for our monthly owner billing process while working collaboratively with the Accounts Receivable Manager. The AR Specialist will validate accuracy, apply critical thinking and solve problems related to processing. This position will include other Accounts Receivable activities including production of a monthly aging of receivables and reconciliation of billings to job cost. The AR Specialist will work collaboratively with Project Managers to understand construction contract billing requirements including various formats, calculations, and timelines. They will work cross functionality within the accounting department to reconcile owner payments to the A/R ledger. The ideal person will embrace a supportive and engaging team environment and strive to maintain team dynamics. This position will be fully in the office.
Salary Range: $50,000 - $75,000 annually, depending on experience.
Essential Responsibilities:
+ Assist with billing system financial accounting activities for multiple entities
+ Manage internal aging
+ Create, manage, and maintain billing rate processing
+ Audit costs as posted for sensibility and correctness
+ Produce reports for billing payroll
+ Provide outstanding service through timely and effective follow-ups and communications with both internal and external customers.
+ Support financial team with annual financial audit.
+ Support departmental projects and data requests as needed.
Qualifications:
Position Related Skills
+ Must have a proficient working knowledge Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Teams, etc. and be able to work well within a network environment.
+ Must be detail oriented and be able to spot issues.
+ Must have critical thinking abilities.
+ Must be able to function in a deadline-oriented environment.
+ Must be able to work multiple tasks and between a variety of departments.
+ Must be a strong team player, self-starter, flexible and be able to work well with a variety of personalities, with minimal instruction, and minimal direct supervision.
+ Must be well organized.
+ Advanced Excel skillset preferred.
+ Experience/working knowledge of accounting software JD Edwards Enterprise One or similar ERP software preferred.
Professional Experience and Education
+ 2-5 years of experience in similar accounting role and working understanding of GAAP.
+ Experience in similar accounting role within the construction industry preferred.
+ Payroll processing experience preferred.
+ Four-year bachelor’s degree with focus on accounting preferred.
+ High School Diploma or GED required.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
+ Standing/Walking/Sitting: Workday is combination of standing, walking and sitting.
+ Must be able to climb stairs: 5% of day.
+ Hands/Arms: Constant use of hands/fingers for mouse/keyboard/computer use.
+ Sight: Visual acuity in near, mid, and far range vision. Color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, hand/eye coordination.
+ Hearing: Sufficient to hear conversational levels in person and over the telephone.
+ Speech: Sufficient to make oneself heard in person, speak in front of groups, and be understood over the telephone.
+ Bending/Twisting: Minimal.
+ Kneeling/Crouching/Crawling: Minimal.
+ Constant mental alertness, accuracy, and attention to detail required.
+ Must be able to work independently, make decisions, and follow through on all assignments.
+ Must use creativity, independent judgment, and organizational and problem-solving skills to determine best method to accomplish desired results.
+ Must be able to plan and organize work.
+ Must possess strong organizational and computer use skills and have a high level of competency to read/write/speak English, interpret construction related documentation and communicate with coworkers.
