ACLS/PALS Instructor - CPR Rescue Training Center - Per Diem - Days

Instructs Advanced Cardiac Life Support/Pediatric Advanced Life Support (ACLS/PALS) following the American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines. Instructs Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) courses following American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) guidelines. Instructors may teach classes at the CPR Rescue Training Center or at other ProMedica and non-ProMedica facilities. Maintains AHA course content and practices within AHA guidelines.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
*All duties listed below are essential unless noted otherwise*
1. Deliver courses by facilitating video presentations, lectures, and hands-on skills demonstrations
2. Completes required documentation and submits course documents within ten days of course
3. Participates in appropriate professional development and training activities to assure accuracy, knowledge and instruction methods. Remain current in AHA guidelines by attending updates as required.
4. Maintains a high standard of professionalism and ethics with learners and colleagues • Instructors must be able to maintain timelines and complete tasks without on-site management present • Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of learners • Ability and willingness to travel throughout the area and or teach at various locations and hours, as required
5. Follows infection prevention and control techniques according to manufacturer’s instructions for use.
6. Teaches or assists in at least one course every two months for each instructor status held
7. Perform other related duties as required 8. Encouraged to cover first aid at ProMedica sponsored events.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High school graduate
Skills: Instruct courses according to AHA/AAP guidelines for each discipline held Years of Experience: 2-5 years of critical care experience (current or previous –ex: ICU, ED, EMT, etc.)
License: Current license for profession – RN, RRT, EMT, Paramedic, etc.
Certification: Current AHA ACLS/PALS and/or AAP NRP Instructor, Current Provider in ACLS/PALS and BLS or must get certified in AHA ACLS Instructor and/or PALS Instructor within 90 days (about 3 months) of hire
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: associate or bachelor’s degree in healthcare related field
Skills: Input and retrieval of computer information, Current job working directly in Critical Care (ex: ICU, ED, EMT, etc.)
Years of Experience: Two or more years of active ACLS/PALS/NRP instructing experience
License:
Certification: AHA BLS Instructor
ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE
1. An elevated level of independent thinking, problem-solving, coordinating, and decision making skills are required. This position often operates without immediate supervision and/or immediate direction.
2. This position represents the organization through community involvement and frequently interacts with other hospital personnel and departments, thus an elevated level of interpersonal and communication skills are desired. Must have an awareness of service standards and a pleasant and positive attitude
WORKING CONDITIONS
Personal Protective Equipment: Must be able to tolerate exposure to air-borne pathogens, bleach, and other disinfectants.
Physical Demands: This position requires a moderate amount of walking and lifting of up to 50lbs, and a significant amount of stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching and standing for up to 4-8 hours. Instructor must be physically able to teach all CPR classes both on and off site according to AHA/AAP guidelines.
