Description
Ring is looking for an Acoustic Engineer to join our global hardware development team. This role is critical in ensuring the highest product quality standards and driving continuous improvement for our products. You must be responsive, flexible, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment. The role includes responsibilities in acoustic system design, audio platform and circuitry design, and audio quality tuning.
Key job responsibilities
• Audio component evaluation and acoustic simulation, collaborating with ID/ME cross-functional teams at the architecture stage.
• Audio component/acoustic design validation and reliability confirmation.
• Sound quality tuning, validation, and verification for products such as smart home and surveillance camera systems.
• Audio new platform bring-up, validation, and testing.
• Design test matrix items and define criteria for internal manufacturing/CM.
• Support manufacturing audio test validation and troubleshooting.
• Conduct audio analysis to quantify sound quality.
• Develop general-purpose audio modules/libraries for test utility (design/factory) integration.
• New audio software algorithm evaluation, integration, and validation.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in the field of electrical, mechanical, or physics with an emphasis in acoustics domain.
- 5+ years experience of Audio hardware design and validation of components, subsystems and systems.
- Hands-on experience in audio quality validation for mobile phones, surveillance camera, laptops, or smart speakers.
- Experience with Audio circuitry validation and PCBA evaluation.
- Prior experience with audio test tools like Audio Precision, Soundcheck, and ACQUA.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with building high volume consumer IoT products.
- Experience with audio signal processing, Audio component characteristic, DSP algorithms, and Audio tuning.
- Experience with test strategy design for automated functional and system testing
- Experience using scripting languages, such as Matlab or Python
- Have knowledge of Audio circuitry design can be a plus but not essential
