Welcome page Returning Candidate? Log back in! Activities Coordinator Job Location US-NY-Bronx Type Regular Full-Time Min USD $55,000.00/Yr. Max USD $60,000.00/Yr. Position Overview SCOPE OF ROLE:

Provide programs and events that encourage engagement and socialization to help support high quality of life for our residents. Arrange meetings with interested individual resident and/or groups, to identify their recreational interest and needs, to plan and implement recreational programs that meet the residents' present level of functioning. Motivate individuals and groups to become involved in the recreation program by participating in and leading specific activities and events.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Plan, organize, promote, implement, and supervise monthly life enrichment activities calendar for communityEnsure a variety of recreational, social, cultural, educational and entertainment programs are planned and implemented, applicable to all ages, mainly for the eldersPrepare and post promotional and advertising materials for monthly program activities including calendars and/or bulletinsDaily and quarterly documentation of residents' participation in programs and progress notes according to monthly calendar schedule, to assure resident’s progressPlanned activities must be able to contribute to the documentation process including, but not limited to: assessments, progress notes, and care plan, in addition to, participate in monthly care conferencesProvide monthly and yearly reports around recreation program goals, opportunities and/or improvementsResearch recreation programs funding sources and project requirementsCoordinate transportation of residents to and from events outside of the community, which may include driving an agency motor vehicle.Any other duties as assigned by the Program Director, Designee or as required. Ability to plan, organize, motivate, lead, and promote a variety of recreational activities year-round, indoors and outdoors, for different age groups with diverse interestsAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships and rapport with employees, supervisors and the general public of all agesAbility to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; answering questions and keeping individuals motivatedAbility to group problem-solving and able to fix situations quickly, and/or adjust activities for all involvedAbility to frequently walk and sit when leading various recreational activitiesAbility to perform other related duties as requiredAbility to work flexible shift including weekends as assignedOther duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Health Education, Creative Arts, or a related fieldA minimum of two years’ experience working with the elderly population and individuals with mental illness Must have experience in planning, organizing and implementing activity groups as well as individual programming for resident of all functioning levels.Must be positive, organized, energetic, motivated and creativeMust possess strong written and verbal skills, computer and Internet skills, communication and interpersonal skills, time management, creative writing skills

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

Compassion and desire to work with the senior populationDriver’s License in good standing and experience working with elders preferredBilingual English/Spanish speaking preferred Company Overview
