Activities Program Manager (SNARL)

 

Responsible for developing and directing an activity program for the leisure time of Special Needs Assisted Living Residence (SNARL) residents; activities are to be designed for entertainment, relaxation, socialization, exercise, stimulation, the opportunity to learn new skills, and for enhancement of the individual, psychological, cultural, physical, social, and spiritual needs of residents. Responsible for training, supervising, and monitoring work progress for the site Activity Leaders, Memory Care Program Specialist, and the oversight of HHA and their assignments.  Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions

Plans, directs, and schedules monthly activity programs, which includes a mixture of group, individual, and independent activities. The activities (cognitive, cultural, spiritual, diversional, physical, political, social, and intellectual interests) are geared toward individual and group residential interests and capabilities. Interviews new residents and prepares initial resident assessment information and ensures resident service plans are appropriately updated.Responsible for reviewing and/or attending Attends and/or reviews Resident/Family Care Plan Review sessions, and the medical record chart of each resident on a quarterly/monthly/annual basis and ensuring required documentation is completed and in the residents’ file; writes and/or reviews activities, ADL, and behavior plan of care, prepares and/or reviews required documentation including initial assessments, progress notes, and attendance during activity programs in the Medical Record Chart of each resident.Manage and develop activities within the Seasons model.Responsible for providing dementia certification instruction to staff; and training staff on programmingEducation of HHA and Activity Leaders for programming as well as dementia certification instruction for all staff within the facility.Supervises Activity leaders and Memory Care Program Specialist; ensuring staff follow policies and procedures, adheres to the dress code, supports Elderwood’s Mission, Vision, and iCARE Values.Directs and monitors the resident programming and specialized memory care approaches for personal care duties carried out by the HHA, while also providing feedback to the DON.Plans Volunteer Programs and recruits, orients, trains, and directs volunteers which cultivates and maintains good relationships with community organizations.Coordinates religious programs for residents and facility wide entertainment events.Serves as editor of newsletter and collaborates with Director of Memory Care and Programming, and Communications Coordinator in production process.Point of contact and and provides support services to volunteers who lead the weekly services, and facility-wide events and/or provides entertainment for such events.Facilitates communication with dietary staff regarding diet requirements of residents and supplies needed for specific activity events.Keeps records and submits money to the Business Office for all income-producing activities; records and submits information regarding transactions of residents through Resident Account funds.Oversees and updates department policies and procedures annuallyArrives to work on time, regularly, and works as scheduled.Recognizes and follows the dress code of the facility including wearing name tag at all times.Follows policy and procedure regarding all electronic devices, computers, tablets, etc.Abides by Elderwood’s businesses code of conduct, compliance and HIPAA policies.Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor, management staff or Administrator.

Qualifications Has completed the Modular Education Program for activity Professionals “MEPAP”; or a bachelor’s degree in recreation therapy; or is an occupational therapist, COTA, CRT, AT-BC (art therapist), MT-BC (music therapist) or has another clinical degreeCertification in dementia and/or behavior management (e.g. CDT) requiredCertification as a Dementia trainer in Crisis Prevent Management (within first year of hire)Demonstrated computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and web-based applicationsQualified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist or an Activities professional preferredExperience in state and federal requirements and documentation preferred

Demonstrated supervisory experience preferred
