Responsibilities Job Summary Provides services to adults and geriatric patients on the Generations unit, directed toward improving, restoring, and maintaining optimal levels of coping and leisure functioning to improve activities of daily living related to safety, movement, cognition, and sensory processing. Assess the patient’s interest and needs by evaluating adaptive skills, defined as the ability to cope, problem solve, complete cognitive tasks, or adapt to daily life responsibilities. Complete activity assessment through patient observation and patient / family interview, obtaining information on the patient’s needs, skills, interests, and limitations for incorporation into the treatment plan. Assessment to be completed with 72 hours of admission. Plan, organize, direct, and implement activities within the treatment program to facilitate progress with treatment goals. Facilitate activity sessions and groups to improve patient mental and physical well-being. Create and implement calming activities for agitation, relaxation tapes, breathing exercises, journaling, painting, music, and visualization activities. Activity Therapist will act as a resource to providers and members of the treatment team. Encourage and educate to alternative activities for patients not interested or unable to engage in activity such as: exercise, leisure workbook, coping or calming activities. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. Qualifications Education Bachelor's Degree in therapeutic recreation, recreation therapy, music therapy, art therapy or related field required. Required Experience 2 years Experience in activity therapy in healthcare setting with knowledge of working with geriatric population. Required Licenses and Certifications Certified Therapist Recreational Services (CTRS) or area of specialty such as art (ART-BC), music (MT-BC), etc. Required
