Actuary - 12 Month Fixed Term Contract

Join Our Marine Energy and Engineering Analytics Team at Guy Carpenter on a 12 Month Fixed Term Contract.

We are looking for a talented Actuary to join our Marine Energy and Engineering Analytics team based in London. This hybrid role requires a minimum of three days a week in the office.

The Marine Energy and Engineering Analytics team comprises nine actuaries and four cat modellers in London, along with three additional cat modellers in Mumbai. As a truly global team, we work with large multinational clients and collaborate regularly with our broking and analytical colleagues in the US and Asia. This role offers a unique opportunity to add significant value to our clients while fostering creativity and innovation. Our collaborative environment has led to excellent staff retention, with many team members transitioning from other areas within the company.

The team has a significant client and market facing presence and team members will need to be able to support this by presenting and pitching to prospect clients. Whilst based in London, the successful applicant will have the opportunity to become a key part in a team with a global reach and remit.

This is a real opportunity in the development and innovation of tools as the company continues to invest. You will also be given the chance to work on new lines of business and you will be able to contribute to building tools from scratch whilst being supported by the wider team and senior management

We will count on you to:

Contribute on model development, quality control, and project delivery.

Create innovative tools to process, visualise, and analyse data.

Demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to confidently engage with brokers and deliver presentations to clients.

Manage complex client case work including the analysis of risk, structuring, pricing and optimisation of technically complex reinsurance programmes.

What you need to have:

Contribute on model development, quality control, and project delivery.

Create innovative tools to process, visualise, and analyse data.

Demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to confidently engage with brokers and deliver presentations to clients.

Manage complex client case work including the analysis of risk, structuring, pricing and optimisation of technically complex reinsurance programmes.

Be confident juggling multiple priorities for a range of different stakeholders, often under challenging deadlines and circumstances.

Be considered and assured in communicating technical concepts to internal and external audiences with varying levels of understanding of the risk.

Drive independent research into areas of interest to Marine, Energy, Terror and Engineering, including developing and maintaining technical, market, and regulatory knowledge.
