Job Description:

The Role: CNA Trainee

The Opportunity:

Do you want to make a difference? Are you passionate about helping people? Are you looking to start a healthcare career in a hospital setting? If so, MaineGeneral will invest in you while you become a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta! As a CNA in acute care, you assist hospitalized patients with daily activities and serve a vital role on the health care team.

Candidates are hired into this Earn to Learn opportunity as CNA Trainees. In this role, your duties will be to:

Assist patients in meeting emotional, spiritual, & recreational needs. Following a satisfactory demonstration of specific skills and competencies defined by regulatory bodies may perform those skills and competencies within the scope of practice.Participate in continuity of care by participating in inner shift communications, huddles, and walking rounds.Assist with an order of patient rooms by keeping them stocked and tidy.Provide calming and reorienting conversation with patients in cases of patients' agitation or confusion.

There is no cost to you! When you accept this opportunity, you commit to finishing all required assignments and must attend all classes and clinical. You will even be paid while you are there!

As you move through the 7-week program, you will be mentored by some of our most experienced staff to help you learn on the job and prepare you to take your CNA exam. Upon successful completion of all required elements and becoming active on the CNA registry, you will accept a position as a Certified Nurse Assistant in either the float pool or a med/surg floor, with a minimum of a one-year commitment to MaineGeneral.

You Have:

High school diploma or equivalent required.Ability to complete a basic math and reading skills assessment test.Dependable attendance for classes, clinical, & scheduled shifts required.

Schedule Requirements:

Class/Clinical/Lab Sessions: Must be available to participate for a total of 30 hours per week, scheduled over 3-4 days, for a duration of 6 weeks.Work Shifts: After completing the initial 6-week training, candidates must be able to work 24-36 hours per week, with 12-hour shifts.
