Status: 1.0 FTE
In collaboration with the Manager of Learning and Development, the Clinical Nurse Educator assists with education and training for St. Peter’s Health staff in all areas of the organization as needed and acts as a leader, innovator and change agent to foster continuous nursing professional development.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two years patient care nursing required. Excellent negotiation, facilitation, presentation and computer skills. Knowledge of evidence-based practice research and resources, disease processes or ability to learn, required. Knowledge of nursing theory, nursing practice and educational theory including adult learning principles. Excellent written and verbal skills, analytical skills necessary to review research, collect and interpret data to support clinical improvement. Possession of cognitive, organizational and emotional abilities to deal effectively with multiple stressors, deadlines, difficult situations and/or customer needs.
EDUCATION: BSN Required. Master’s degree in nursing or current work towards MSN preferred. Certification in a related clinical specialty strongly preferred.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY: Current Montana State registered nurse licensure and BLS certification required. Ability to attain instructor level status in BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC or ENPC required.
The Clinical Nurse Educator will:
Assist with clinical education for onboarding of new employees, students, providers or contingent workers Serve as an instructor for the Training Center i.e. BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, etcServe as a liaison between staff and educational opportunities and classes, assisting with staff course enrollment and facilitation of informationRound weekly on new employees and interns for the duration of their orientation to address needs and foster relationship and belonging to the SPH teamsCreate 1:1 or small group sessions for remedial education i.e. IV competency, sharps safety, crash cart reviews, Mock Code BlueCreate educational materials for new products, product trials, new practice or process improvement in collaboration with front line staff, department leaders and the People Development TeamAssists with quarterly and annual nursing competencies content planning, development, delivery and evaluation for organization and clinical team membersParticipates and facilitates the offering of continuing nursing education credits in collaboration with the nursing education team.Supports education needs of departments to include bedside education where appropriate, in department trainings and competency assessmentsStays current with evidence based practice integration into educational materials.Collaborate on workforce training programs, course or instruction, promotions or panel discussions with students interested in health careers
