Acute Care Physical Therapist Per Diem
*Description* *In-Patient Per Diem Physical Therapist Opportunity!* *Rate: $60.00* *Per diem PT will cover week-days and one weekend day per month on an as needed basis. Candidates must have availability for week-day coverage.* *Summary:* Under the general supervision of the rehab manager or supervisor, performs therapy examinations, develops treatment plans and goals, and applies interventions in accordance with the Standards of Practice of the profession, applicable state licensure regulations, and hospital policies and procedures in an acute setting. *Responsibilities:* • Screens neonates to determine needs for physical therapy referral; examines neonates and interprets findings. • Develops and implements a plan to prevent neurobehavioral disorganization and complications of prematurity in multiple systems. • Designs, implements, and evaluates the efficacy of intervention plans in collaboration with the family and medical team. • Develop and implement discharge plans in collaboration with the family, medical team, and community resources. • Consult with providers of specialized equipment or services in preparation for community-based care. • Consult and collaborate with health care professionals, families, policy makers, and community organizations to advocate for services to support the development of neonates. • Incorporate evidence-based literature into neonatal practice. Contributes to ongoing professional development of self, department, and network. • Communicate, demonstrate, and evaluate neonatal physical therapy care procedures with NICU professionals and other caregivers. • Evaluate the effectiveness of a neonatal physical therapy program and make changes accordingly. May supervise students as assigned; contributes to peer review as required • Supports excellence of the organization and patient satisfaction. • Makes independent decisions within scope of defined job description, level of knowledge, skills and abilities but seeks guidance as necessary for safe performance of duties. • Manages time effectively; meets or exceeds productivity and documentation requirements • Accepts and utilizes feedback in a constructive manner and demonstrates respect for others in open and constructive communications. •Meets minimum scheduling requirements per department policy; adheres to all local and network policies, Maintains and models Nuvance Health Foundational Values. •Performs other duties as required, including but not limited to treatment and evaluation of adult patients in the acute setting after proper competency assessment has been performed. *Required Education:* Graduate of an accredited curriculum with a minimum of a doctorate of physical therapy. For individuals who completed appropriate Physical Therapy education prior to 2015, a Bachelor's degree or greater will be accepted in lieu of the Doctoral Physical Therapy Degree. Current license to practice physical therapy in the state of Connecticut: Successful completion of minimum requirements for licesnure including all clinical practice and comprehensive examinations. CPR Certification Prefer: Experience in a NICU setting, experience in birth to three or other early childhood settings. Experience with medically complex patients. Pediatric specialty preferred. Pediatric clinical specialty preferred Working Conditions: Manual: significant manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity Occupational: Significant occupational risk Physical Effort: Very Heavy effort.
