Acute Trauma Nurse Extender, Pee Dee Surgical Group

Founded in 1906, McLeod Health is a locally owned and managed, not for profit organization supported by the strength of more than 900 members on its medical staff and more than 2,900 licensed nurses. McLeod Health is also composed of approximately 15,000 team members and more than 90 physician practices throughout its 18-county service area. With seven hospitals, McLeod Health operates three Health and Fitness Centers, a Sports Medicine and Outpatient Rehabilitation Center, Hospice and Home Health Services. The system currently has 988 licensed beds, including Hospice and Behavioral Health. The hospitals within McLeod Health include: McLeod Regional Medical Center, McLeod Health Dillon, McLeod Health Loris, McLeod Health Seacoast, McLeod Health Cheraw, McLeod Health Clarendon and McLeod Behavioral Health.  

 

Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, and co-workers in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values. Assists the Provider in assessing the needs of hospitalized patients based on data collected through history, observation,

physical exam, telephone triage and analysis of diagnostic data while providing appropriate age-specific nursing interventions which are consistent with the plan of care and standards of practice.                                                     Duties include but are not limited to:

Performing nursing assessment on new and existing patients, gathering vital patient information and documenting in the EMR. Ordering appropriate diagnostic testing/interventions per standing orders/Provider’s request while assisting with making recommendations for plans of care.  Rounding on Trauma consults to include 811, 911 and general surgical patients  Assisting with medication administration when necessary following medication administration policies. Assisting Providers with treatments and procedures as needed.  Assisting Providers with the patient discharge process. Serving as a patient/family advocate; communication link between the Provider, patient, family & health

care team to reduce redundancy and fragmentation of care. 

Providing patient/family education. Triaging telephone calls and responding accordingly. Developing and maintaining a working knowledge of all equipment and hospital requirements needed to perform duties. Adheres to the hospital’s regulatory compliance, policies for patient care, required annual training for the hospital. Engaged in Quality and Safety initiatives. Performs all other duties as assigned within scope of practice.  Job Requirements

Qualifications /Training:

Minimum 2 years’ experience in bedside Nursing Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including rotating weekends 

 

Licenses/Certifications/Registrations/Education:

Must possess a valid SC license-RN Active ACLS required
