Are you passionate about helping individuals struggling with problem gambling? Join our dynamic and collaborative team at Cascadia Health as an Addiction and Recovery Counselor II (Gambling). In this role, you will provide a range of supportive services, from prevention to treatment, using a strengths-based and trauma-informed approach to care.

Position Overview:

The Addiction and Recovery Counselor II (Gambling) is responsible for offering and coordinating comprehensive services for clients dealing with problem gambling. This role involves providing preventative services, such as community outreach to youth and older adults for awareness and education, and delivering treatment services through clinic-based sessions with some remote work or telehealth options. Flexibility between office and remote work is essential to meet program needs. 

Key Responsibilities:

Evaluate and regularly update clients’ needs; conduct assessments for problem gambling treatment for new clients. Develop, implement, and assess client treatment plans using established treatment models, including individual and group therapy, relapse prevention, and family/support sessions. Coordinate continuity of care by collaborating with internal and external service providers. Maintain accurate and compliant clinical records using the Electronic Health Record System (EHR). Comply with all federal regulations, including HIPAA and 42CFR, and follow company policies and mandatory reporting laws. Develop long-term treatment plans for clients, including assessing and addressing pathological and problem gambling. Actively participate in all scheduled staff meetings, supervision sessions, and other departmental and agency meetings. Provide assistance in crisis situations and follow emergency protocols. Carry out other duties as assigned to support the mission and vision of Cascadia Health.

Qualifications:

Required Certification: Certified Gambling Addiction Counselor I (CGAC-I) via MHACBO. Experience: At least 1 year of experience providing services to clients with problem gambling. Knowledge and Skills: Competency in culturally specific services, trauma-informed care, and evidence-based practices such as Motivational Interviewing. Understanding of the Recovery Model. Proficiency in using computer systems for job-related tasks and preparing reports.

Working Conditions:

Environment: Work is mainly performed in an office setting within a health center. Clinic hours range from 8:00 a.m. to 7:30 or 8:00 p.m., with typical shifts of 8 hours. Mental Demands: Must stay alert to identify and manage potentially volatile situations. Possible exposure to noise, contaminants, and biohazards. Physical Demands: Frequent desk work involving documentation and communication; regular movement around the workspace; observation and interpretation of client behavior. Occasionally requires rapid response to crisis situations.
