Job Overview

Location/Schedule: This position is located at the Mead Building in SW Portland. The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Position Overview 

Join our team as an Addiction and Recovery Counselor in the Mental Health Court Case Coordination program! In this role, you will provide substance use disorder (SUD) services to adults with severe mental illnesses and criminal justice involvement. Responsibilities include conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and providing individual and group therapy. This position is rooted in trauma-informed care and emphasizes collaborative treatment to support clients in achieving their goals and reducing recidivism. 

Essential Responsibilities 

Conduct Alcohol and Drug Assessments and develop relapse prevention plans. 

Facilitate individual and group counseling using evidence-based practices such as CBT and Motivational Interviewing. 

Coordinate with internal and external resources to ensure comprehensive client care. 

Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with HIPAA. 

Participate in staff meetings, supervision sessions, and ongoing training opportunities. 

Qualifications 

Education: Bachelor’s degree in a behavioral science field or three years of relevant professional experience. Qualified Mental Health Associate (QMHA) credentials required. 

Certification: Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) credentials (CADCI or CADCII) required. 

Skills: Effective communication, active listening, and strong interpersonal skills. 

Other: Valid driver’s license and ability to pass DMV check; travel within the Portland Metro area required. Must have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Ability to pass DHS and DCJ background checks.
