This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and skilled addiction and mental health professional as an Addiction Counselor III. As a Counselor, you will be a member of the Adult Outreach Team. You will be part of an interdisciplinary team, providing assertive, client focused, culturally appropriate, community-based recovery-oriented management to adults experiencing severe and persistent mental illness, addictions and homelessness. Clinical services are most often delivered off-site and targeted to those individuals whose illness presents a barrier to engagement in treatment. Additionally, you will provide front line support, and reinforcement of evidence-based practices, case management/documentation reviews. Counselors will be responsive to clients as well as their networks of support such as community team members, partners and families. Description:As an Addiction Counsellor III, you will provide quality, client focused, recovery based and culturally appropriate assessment, treatment, case management, crisis intervention, education and referral services for clients and their families; as well as community stabilization services. Additional Required Qualifications:2-3 years of work experience in mental health and/or addictions. Experience providing pro-active engagement to clients and effective collaboration with a wide variety of care providers, agencies and stakeholders is required. Critical thinking skills, advanced knowledge of mental illnesses, and evidence based/evidence informed treatment including Risk Assessments, Crisis Management, Concurrent Disorders Treatment, and Harm-Reduction methods. Working knowledge and experience in the identification and management of complex addiction, mental illness, and chronic disease is required.
Preferred Qualifications:2-3 years of work experience with vulnerable populations is preferred. Strong awareness of community resources is an asset.
