Job Description

SUMMARY:

The Social Media & Public Relations and Advertising programs are part of the Strategic Communications area in the School of Communication and Media. These majors explore the growth and pervasive use of social media which has significantly transformed how brands, organizations, entrepreneurs, and individuals tell their stories. Social media has compelled many brands to focus on creating impactful content, amplifying messages, fostering interactive engagement, identifying strategic audiences, and building relationships. Public relations and advertising approaches are both foundational to the strategic communication area.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The School of Communication and Media is looking to expand our faculty for the Social Media & Public Relations and Advertising majors. We are looking for adjunct faculty to teach a range of undergraduate level courses such as Fundamentals of Public Relations and Advertising, Multi Media Production for Strategic Communication, Brand Storytelling in Strategic Communication, Copywriting Across Media, Consumer Insights, Advertising Media Strategies, Public Relations Writing Across Media, Public Relations Investigation and Strategy, and Public Relations Cases.

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED:

Applicants must have a master’s or Ph.D. degree and evidence of rich industry experience and successful university teaching experience.

THE SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATION AND MEDIA:

Founded in 2012, the School of Communication and Media offers a range of dynamic programs in communication and media to a talented and diverse student population of over 1,700. Offering degrees in film and television, social media and public relations, advertising, journalism and digital media, sports communication, communication and media studies, animation and visual effects, and an MA in public and organizational relations, the School prepares the next generation of communication and media practitioners and leaders. The School houses award-winning student programs that include WMSC Radio, The Montclarion newspaper, Hawk Communications Agency, the Red Hawk Sports Network, Hawk+ OTT streaming platform, and News Lab, as well as the Center for Cooperative Media, which serves the public by working to grow and strengthen local journalism. Recent national School recognitions include an Edward R. Murrow Award, several Marconi Award nominations, and two College Television Awards from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

Salary Range
$1,975.00 per academic credit per semester (a 3-credit course is $5,925.00 and a 4-credit course is $7,900.00).
