This position is located at Atlanta Tech's Main campus just south of Downtown Atlanta. Under the general supervision of the Dean of the division, and the Department Chair of Automotive Technology department , the Adjunct Automotive Diesel Instructor must be able to select and assess student learning outcomes , foster effective learning in both classroom and lab settings, and promote good public relations v i a contacts and regular c o mmunicat io ns with business, industry , and the public sector. This position requires a passion, demonstrated by experience, for effective teaching and advisement of diverse students. The primary duties and responsibilities for this position will include, but may not be limited to, the following: ยท Develops and reviews program and syllabi, goals and objec ti ves according to approved curriculum and course syllab i, standards. ยท Demonstrates the e ff ective use of ora l and written communication skills and knowledge of current procedures in the Automotive/Diesel field. ยท Evaluates and reviews students' progress in attaining g o als and objec tive s . ยท Instructs, advises and counse l s students and maintains appropriate advisement records on each student. ยท Monitor 's use of supplies, materials, and equipment. ยท Requests and maintains supp l ies and equipment and prepares budget requests. ยท Maintains and reviews classrooms and laboratories in accor d ance with approved classroom and lab management plans. ยท Maintains and reviews program certification requirements, as appropriate. ยท Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports . ยท Attending staff development training, workshops , seminars, and conferences . ยท Ensures safety and security requ ire ments are met in U1e training area . ยท Meets with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students' instructional programs and other issues . ยท Assists with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts. ยท Demonstrates and e nsures the use of appropriate and effective teaching techniques, testing and grading procedures (including proper maintenance of grade books and any other appropriate record-keeping requirements) . ยท Serves on committees, as needed. ยท Maintains ASE certifications and ensures i nstructo r ' s qualifications for employment as described by the Atlanta Techn ic al College, Te chnical College System of Georgia Policy Manual and accreditation standards. ยท Follows and enforces rules and regu l ations as described by the Technical College System of Georgia Pol ic y Manual and other poli cies and procedures established by the institu t ion . ยท Possess and utilize excellent oral and written communication skills; and ยท Perform additional duties, as assigned. Minimum Qualifications : Must possess and demonstrate the following: ยท High school diploma or equivalent AND a post-secondary diploma in Automotive or Diesel technology . ยท Relevant ASE certification in diesel technology specializations. ยท Two (2) or more years working in the field. ยท Experience working with heavy equipment is a plus. ยท Must possess the competencies, skills, and knowledge level a diesel technology instructor will be expected to bring to the classroom; and ยท Must possess and demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.
