Adjunct Instructor - Music Technology
NYU Steinhardt Department of Music and Performing Arts Professions (MPAP) Music Technology Program seeks qualified candidates to teach in the following fields: Audio Mastering (Graduate) Mastering is the crucial final stage of audio production where subtle to transformative techniques can add significant value. Mastering engineers ensure quality control, guaranteeing that artists' and producers' work is ready for mass distribution. This craft demands a wide-ranging aesthetic sense, a solid understanding of digital audio, deep listening abilities, articulate conversational skills, and a disciplined workflow to produce high quality results under tight deadlines. Historically, mastering was the domain of specialized facilities. Today, engineers with the right skills, a laptop, and a modest investment in monitors, headphones, and software, can create world-class masters in everyday spaces. This class combines demonstrations, discussions of theory and process, and hands-on practice to equip students with the skills and intentionality required for audio mastering. Please note that this course requires significant participation in the form of frequent and continuing discussions throughout the semester. In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the contact hour rate for this position is $222.27 per hour . This rate is based on the collective bargaining agreement with Local 7902. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: + Master’s degree in music or music technology or equivalent combination of graduate education and professional experience. + Professional experience as a Mastering Engineer.
