The Iowa Utilities Commission (Commission) invites you to join our team as anAdministrative Assistant 2, a key position in a rapidly evolving field of utility regulation. About Us: At the Iowa Utilities Commission, we play a crucial role in ensuring the efficiency and fairness of utility services. As an Administrative Assistant 2, you will become an integral part of our legal team, reporting directly to the Bureau Chief of the Regulatory Law Bureau and General Counsel. This permanent, full-time, contract-covered position offers the chance to dive deep into the world of utilities, where your background and learned expertise will assist the Commission in completing its assigned regulatory tasks. What You'll Be Doing: As an Administrative Assistant 2, you will provide support to the agency’s attorneys, presiding officers, Regulatory Law Bureau Chief, General Counsel and the Commission. Some of your key responsibilities will include: + Leading the Legal Documents Process: Assists in the preparation of Commission orders by creating/maintaining templates; reviewing/editing complex documentation; including orders, that contain legal terminology; leading the order routing process, signature, and issuance workflows; and making online submissions, including certified records, filings, and briefs into the Commission’s, state’s, and federal’s electronic filing systems. + Managing Dockets: Serves as the principal point of contact for the Regulatory Law Bureau on all matters relating to docket management and will lead the Regulatory Law Bureau in implementation of and transition to the incoming case management software system. Manages the Commission’s internal docket logistics, including organizing support staff for hearings and procuring and contracting with third-party vendors as needed. + Identifying Process Improvements: Serves as a member of internal-agency committees, including, but not limited to, special committees tasked with identifying procedural and processing inefficiencies, testing and implementing new software and other technologies intended to reduce inefficiencies, and developing and analyzing key performance indicators intended to measure the Commission's productivity. + Serving as Principal Designee: Attends and represents the General Counsel and/or the Regulatory Law Bureau Chief at regularly scheduled meetings and ad hoc meetings with senior agency management and represents and advances the positions held by the General Counsel and/or the Regulatory Law Bureau Chief. + Implementing a Regulatory Law Bureau Training Program: Updates and manages the training program and supervises training for new Regulatory Law Bureau employees, including interns. Performs actual training of Regulatory Law Bureau practices, schedules other trainings as appropriate, and coordinates with/provides training to other bureaus as needed. + Supporting Administrative Rulemaking Process: Provides support for the Commission's rulemaking and other legislative efforts, including the use of the State of Iowa’s designated software program for the rules review process (Esper), the submissions of rulemaking documents, the maintenance of accurate records, and the tracking of the pending rulemaking dockets.
