We are seeking a detail-oriented and patient-focused team member to join our Pasadena Ophthalmology Call Center! You'll be the first point of contact for patients calling the Doheny Eye Center, helping to coordinate appointments, process authorizations, and provide important information. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
+ Pre-registering new and returning patients via telephone
+ Schedule appointments
+ Communicate messages via email and EMR in-basket messaging to appropriate staff
+ Assist with fax server processing and department email management
+ Provide directions and general information to patients
+ Obtain, process, and monitor managed care authorizations
+ Enter referrals, maintain tracking logs and review third-party payer requirements
Salary Range: $25.60-36.33 Hourly
Qualifications
Required:
+ Understand basic ophthalmic terminology and is familiar with signs and symptoms of various ophthalmic conditions.
+ Familiarity with CPT and ICD10 billing codes.
+ Experience working in a medical office including answering telephones, scheduling patient appointments, interacting with patients and familiarity with current billing practices including governmental plans.
+ Experience with pharmaceutical/medical insurance verification and authorization via electronic platforms.
+ Working knowledge of third-party payer verification terminology.
+ Background with relevant state and federal programs, including Medicare, Medi-Cal, and CCS programs
+ Skill in speaking clearly, distinctly, pleasantly, and professionally on the telephone to communicate with the public, patients, physicians, and scientists.
+ Skill in prioritizing assignments to complete work in a timely manner.
+ Skill in working independently and following through on assignments with minimal direction.
+ Ability to use common computer programs such as spreadsheets, word processors, mail and Internet browsers.
+ Skill in editing correspondence and manuscripts for correct grammar, spelling and punctuation
+ Ability to perform effectively under conditions of fluctuating workload.
