Administrative Assistant (SPC Renewable Operations & Generation Support)
**Administrative Assistant (SPC Renewable Operations & Generation Support)** This position reports to the Southern Power Company (SPC) Renewable Operations Director at the corporate Energy Center in Birmingham, AL. It is responsible for providing administrative support to the employees in the SPC Renewable Operations and Generation Support organizations. Job expectations include managing day-to-day office operations, expense statement and P-card processing, invoice processing, check request handling, meeting planning and support, travel arrangement, timekeeping, calendar management telephone coverage, office supply inventory management, general office area support, presentation preparation and editing, organization of documents, filing, budget tracking and management, and various special projects. The use of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.) are key requirements for this role. Working closely and efficiently with others on the administrative support team is also a key requirement for this role. **JOB REQUIREMENTS** + Excellent written and verbal communication, planning and organizational skills are required + Previous administrative work experience performed at a high level of proficiency in traditional office skills is required + Prior experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite applications is required + Prior experience and proficiency in other Southern Company support systems is a plus (Oracle Enterprise Solutions Applications, Cool Compliance, etc.). Must be able to learn them quickly if no prior direct experience. + Experience in budgeting procedures and understanding of financial concepts desired + High School Diploma or Equivalent required. College experience or degree desired **BEHAVIORAL ATTRIBUTES** + Exercises independent judgment, confidentiality, and discretion and is able to work with minimal direction + Adapts quickly to changing conditions and effectively manages multiple priorities + Delivers assignments with a high degree of accuracy and timeliness without follow-up + Anticipates group needs and proactively seeks solutions + Exhibits Our Values (Safety First, Intentional Inclusion, Act with Integrity, Superior Performance) in all business dealings + Displays excellent Customer Service skills + Ability to build relationships and work effectively in a team environment **JOB RESPONSIBILITIES** + Be consistently available to meet departmental support needs including occasional scheduled and unscheduled evenings and weekends + Manage calendar, including meeting and travel arrangements for a large department + Perform timekeeping administration + Key contact for department + Perform budget management tasks including preparation, research, and reconciliation of various financial transactions (check requests, invoice processing, etc.) + Manage telephone coverage and mail distribution for department + Support meeting planning + Manage agenda preparation and all related meeting arrangements + Expense and P-Card statement management + Prepare and maintain records + Keep copiers, printers, and fax machines functional and stocked with paper + Coordinate with Building Operations on requests for building needs, office moves, maintenance requirements, etc. + Maintain supply room order/accessibility + Find solutions for copying, faxing, wireless equipment, office space, interview planning, gifts/flowers/food, office supplies, teleconference calls, catering, drinks or refreshments, etc. + Regularly communicate with other administrative support teammates to ensure effective coverage **Southern Power** , a subsidiary of Southern Company, is a leading U.S. wholesale energy provider meeting the electricity needs of municipalities, electric cooperatives, investor-owned utilities, and other energy customers.
