Responsibilities

Provides primary transcription and general office support to Pathology services. Maintains all pertinent documents files and information in a readily retrievable fashion. Initiates tracks and maintains files of correspondence and tracking of tissues slides and consultative reports. Performs other support and technical duties as required. Helps pathologists with administrative and secretarial support on an as-needed basis.


Qualifications
Previous transcription experience with medical terminology. AA with coursework in medical transcription and keyboard applications preferred. Familiarity with computer systems transcribing equipment and software applications are basic skills which require specialized training. Medical terminology knowledge must be extensive as pathology covers the entire anatomy. Must be able to follow complex instructions interact with physicians and solve problem situations. Good written and oral communications skills required with a demonstrated customer service positive approach. Production keyboard work with medical terminology knowledge are required to perform this task. Must maintain a standard typing speed to ensure timeliness and ability to complete daily workload. Flexibility and working with minimum supervision are essential. Some familiarity with coding tumor registry and Microsoft applications preferred.
