**Job Summary**
The Executive Director, Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute, will lead a nationally ranked hub for student entrepreneurship and innovation at the University of Utah and an interdisciplinary division of the David Eccles School of Business. The first programs were offered in 2001, through the vision and support of Pierre Lassonde, an alumnus of the Eccles School and successful mining entrepreneur. The institute now provides opportunities for thousands of students to learn about entrepreneurship and innovation. Programs include workshops, networking events, business-plan competitions, startup support, graduate and alumni programs, scholarships, community outreach and more. All programs are open to students from any academic major or background. The Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute also manages Lassonde Studios, a new five-story innovation space and housing facility for all students, in partnership with Housing & Residential Education. The Executive Director will manage the strategic infrastructure and operations of the Institute and serve as an “entrepreneur in residence” while mentoring student teams and individuals as they engage in the wide variety of extracurricular programming offered by the Institute. A staff of professionals will report to the Executive Director in developing programs, marketing, communication and student engagement plans. The Executive Director will manage budgets, fundraising efforts other endeavors to contribute to the success of the Institute.
**Responsibilities**
The Executive Director be responsible to:
* Fulfill the mission statement, goals, and strategic plan of the Institute in coordination with the Dean of the David Eccles School of Business and the Vice President of Innovation
* Manage the relationship with the Lassonde Family Foundation;
* Drive a culture of innovation and best practices within the program;
* Manage Lassonde Studios. Meet revenue, occupancy, maintenance and customer service targets. Partner with the Eccles School, University facilities and Housing departments as appropriate
* Develop program budgets and manage spending;
* Manage appropriate internal and external advisory boards in conjunction with relevant stakeholders;
* Create a strategic fundraising plan to support programs;
* Manage and retain high performing staff;
* Manage a scholarship program to support students;
* Coordinate program activities with other programs within the University of Utah;
* Steward relevant industry leaders who have the ability and desire to support the program;
* Mentor students participating in key programs (Company Launch, Founders, Competitions, Get Seeded, Get Started, others)
* Prepare reports, financial statements, and records on program activities, progress, status or related special reports;
* Serve a preceptor in the Master of Business Creation degree program

* An ability to establish and maintain effective and harmonious relationships with faculty, staff, students, and supporters.
**Minimum Qualifications**
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, clinical field, or related area, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); nine years of progressively more responsible management experience; and demonstrated leadership, staff management, and effective communications skills required.
Completion of hospital provided supervisory training within one year of employment may also be required.
This position has no responsibility for providing care to patients.

**Preferences**
+ A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required for this position as is at least seven years of leadership experience, preferably within the candidate’s own company or startup enterprise.
