Position Summary:
This Administrative Operations Specialist I position is situated within the Interdisciplinary Research Support Office (IRSO), a subgroup of the Office of Research, whose mission is to facilitate the growth of the research enterprise at Rice University through the provision of high-quality, outcome-focused, administrative support for Rice’s research institutes, centers, and multi-departmental, or multi-institutional research projects.
The Administrative Operations Specialist will provide administrative and operational support to customer faculty, institutes, centers, and senior administrators within IRSO and its affiliated organizations.

Workplace Requirements:
This position is offered as a hybrid role, combining both in-office and remote work to provide flexibility and support collaboration. [A minimum of 60% presence on campus per week is expected]. Per Rice policy 440, work arrangements may be subject to change.
Hiring Range: $42,500 to $50,000
*Exempt (salaried) positions under FLSA are not eligible for overtime.
Minimum Requirements:

Implement, administer, and evaluate the department or program's day-to-day business and administrative activities. Act as primary purchasing support for the department and IRSO customers as required. Prepare and submit expenditure reports for faculty and support staff as required. Provide financial support for IRSO and subgroups, including balance transfers, cost transfers, and supplier registration. Organize, manage, and complete special projects. May supervise and delegate work to IRSO student employees. Update websites, create flyers, and provide graphic design support as needed. Provide calendar and communications support and implement outreach activities, such as workshops, conferences, and other events. Provide financial support for post-event attendee reimbursements.
