About the Position: Serves as an Administrative Support Assistant under the overall supervision of the SDDC G33-O, Operations Division. Aids the Division Chiefs, subordinate Branch and Section Chiefs and divisions staff via extensive knowledge and understanding of the organization, its methods, funds, people, and other management tools. Responsibilities Ability to gather, assemble, and analyze facts, draw conclusions, and devise solutions to assigned problems in order to troubleshoot administrative bottlenecks that may develop from time to time in the division. Knowledge of various civilian personnel management programs (awards, performance appraisals etc.) and applicable regulations. Knowledge of the missions of the division and its various branches and sections sufficient to enable the incumbent to prioritize daily tasks, and assign work to complete projects. Skill in the use of personal computers and MS applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook ), graphics and presentation, electronic mail system, and other applications as specified by the organization. The employee is fully experienced in applying concepts and methodologies and is knowledgeable in functional program characteristics and requirements. Independently assigns tasks and requests from the Division Chief to the appropriate Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in order to maintain fast and efficient administrative accomplishments of assigned missions. Controls and coordinates all required actions to maintain database of DTS user information by assigning appropriate permission levels to official personnel and travelers, updating DTS databases as well as managing the administrative setup structure. Employee uses established methods, practices, and criteria to identify, study, and recommend solutions for resolving conventional problems or questions. Ability to communicate effectively to resolve difficult issues and/or problems, to provide advice and assistance and relevant to DTS, to conduct training and briefings, as well as to exercise tact and diplomacy in all contacts. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes maintaining a suspense database, processing travel orders, and/or preparing purchase orders. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-6). Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required.
