Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit The Office of Undergraduate Admissions is responsible for identifying, cultivating, and recruiting potential applicants for admission as traditional first-time freshmen, transfers, and nontraditional adults; collecting and evaluating credentials; making decisions regarding individuals’ candidacies for admission to UNCG; and positively affecting admitted students decisions to matriculate to UNCG.
The Office of Undergraduate Admissions serves as a major public relations arm of the institution and helps to shape a positive image of the University through its interaction with parents, prospective students, high school and college counselors, alumni, and other external agencies.
The Office of Undergraduate Admissions communicates to the public the academic, programmatic, and developmental offerings that UNCG provides for its students.
Through its activities, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions supports the University’s enrollment goals as they pertain to new traditional and nontraditional undergraduates. Position Summary The position evaluates students’ academic credentials and makes admission recommendations based on the minimum UNCG System criteria. Creates applicant records for incoming freshmen, transfer, second degree, and returning UNCG students. The position enters applications, credentials, test scores, and other academic information into the Customer Relationship Management software. Processes applications that are received from various electronic sources. Explains policies and procedures regarding the application and enrollment process to prospective students, parents, high school, and college counselors. Completes independently, special projects requiring the use of professional judgment. Maintains effective relationships with others in order to support communication and teamwork. This position has limited face-to-face interaction with the public. Primary responsibilities are performed from our Admissions Processing Operations Office. Minimum Qualifications HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR EQUIVALENCY AND ONE YEAR OF RELATED OFFICE EXPERIENCE; OR EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE. Analyzes data provided by applicants, recognizes omissions and inconsistencies, and makes critical evaluations regarding applicant’s safety/disciplinary issues. Essential Tasks Demonstrates proficiency and knowledge of entering and evaluating data in the admissions Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software. Demonstrates expertise and specialized knowledge in indexing and linking documents to students’ files. Knowledge of and ability to extract data from the admissions CRM such as data integrity reports. Constantly accesses the admissions CRM and UNCG Student Information System (SIS) to provide services to prospective students, parents, counselors, faculty, and staff. Essential Tasks Independently resolves customer problems by reliance on extensive specialized knowledge of the Undergraduate Admissions application process, analytical skill, and research of University policies. Proactively refers students, parents, and counselors to appropriate resources (other campus offices) as necessary.
