Summary You will serve as a Principal for Safety for Code 34 Electromagnetic Systems in the Logistics, Quality, and Materials Management Branch of NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV NEWPORT RI. This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The NT-5 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-13 and GS-14. Responsibilities You will perform Principal for Safety (PFS) responsibilities per NAVSEAINST 5100.12B and 5100.12-M in support of Code 34 Electromagnetic Systems. You will perform senior system safety analysis. You will be responsible for ensuring various electromagnetic systems and department standard operating procedures are evaluated and analyzed to ensure system safety standards per guidance are met. You will be managing the execution of the program’s system safety program and ensuring the alignment of the program’s System Safety Program Plan (SSPP) and interfacing program office System Safety Management Plan with the program’s SSMP. You will provide system safety expertise to programmatic and technical authority in the implementation of DoD, Secretary of the Navy, Chief of Naval Operation, and NAVSEA system safety requirements and policies throughout the program’s life cycle. You will establish direct lines of communication with the NAVSEA/NAVWAR Program Manager, NAVSEA 05 Technical Warrant Holders, Code 34 Technical Program Managers, and other PFSs across the command. You will chair the program’s System Safety Working Group and facilitate program decisions with respect to Environmental, Safety, and Occupational Health risk mitigation. You will coordinate the activities of the SSWG with those of other working groups, such as the RMB and Integrated Product Teams within the program office and facilitate collaboration on overlapping technical issues. You will obtain and maintain PFS qualifications Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-04 (GS- 11/12 equivalent) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: analyzing and evaluating system safety requirements to develop or adjust plans in order to ensure system safety standards per guidance are met for risk mitigation. OR Three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree. Additional Information This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The NT-5 pay band is equivalent to the GS-13/14 level. The salary range shown above is capped at the GS-13 Step 10 - $155,164. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
