Description
This position is responsible for administering safety processes and developing corrective action plans for rail and bus transit operations, operator safety, and security. Key functional areas of responsibility include Rail Operations, Bus Operations, Competency Management, the Operations Command Center, and Regulatory Reporting. Additionally, this role oversees accident investigations and works closely with the Transportation Division and other business partners to ensure safety and compliance across all operations.
This role requires being onsite five (5) days per week.
Reliable in-person attendance is an essential function of all positions. Some positions may be able to work up to two days remotely depending on department policy, business needs, and manager discretion.

Essential Functions
+ Evaluate work assignments of Rail, Bus, and Field Operations employees to determine adherence to standard operating procedures and industry best practices. Analyzes and makes recommendations for manpower and materials to ensure the safe and efficient operations of Transportation Operations and regulatory compliance.
+ Implement, maintain, and manage rail and bus operations safety programs. Participate in safety committees, administer state safety oversight corrective action plans, implement safety enhancements, and collaborate with stakeholders in training, operations command center, and safety departments.
+ In close collaboration with all TriMet departments, investigate and prepare reports for accidents, incidents, and regulatory compliance (Rail accidents, security incidents) defects.
+ Prepare routine and special reports as directed.
+ Coordinate with Field Operations Coordinators (FOC) for special events, shutdowns, and other situations that affect Rail Operations. Ensure Safety for operators, and Field Supervisors are being considered.
+ Conduct regular inspections of work areas to ensure clean and safe working conditions, monitor work efficiency, and promote a positive safety environment.
+ Participate in Emergency Operations and Incident Command during abnormal and emergent situations.
Position Requirements
A minimum of a bachelor's degree is required, with a bachelor's degree in business, management, transportation or safety being preferred.
Four (4) years of total credited experience.*
Four (4) years of experience as a Light Rail Vehicle Operator, Field Supervisor, Dispatcher or Controller, or a strong safety background with OSHA, Oregon OSHA, and Accident Investigation experience are required.
TSSP - Transit Safety and Security Program (Bus and Rail) -Transit Safety Security Practitioner is preferred within three (3) years of employment.
Possession of current/validClass "C" license issued by Oregon or Washington; ability to pass a driving record check meeting TriMet driving record standards.
Or any equivalent combination of training or experience. *
The amount of credit a candidate receives for prior years of experience is based on the relevancy of that experience to the required or preferred prerequisites of the job description. Experience is prorated based on hours worked. LRHR assigns and validates the "credited experience".

Salary Range
Minimum: $91,048.00
Maximum: $136,572.00
Salary offers will be determined by a candidate’s education, training and relevant experience. Any final offer of employment will fall within the range stated above. For transparency, we choose to list the full available grade range, however, TriMet’s salary administration process will ultimately determine the final salary offered.
