The Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs at Brown University seeks to promote a just and peaceful world through research, teaching and public engagement. This position in the Master of Public Affairs Program interacts with a broad range of constituents, both internal and external to the University. The Admissions and Alumni Engagement Coordinator will provide constituent-facing engagement support, conduct an array of projects to support and inform ongoing program development, and will represent the program through a wide-range of interactions with the audiences for admissions, recruitment, and alumni engagement operations.
Responsibilities focused on admission and recruitment will include: managing day-to-day responses to program inquiries to ensure a welcoming and engaging experience throughout the application to matriculation journey;
managing operations for admissions events and representing the program at both virtual and in-person events;
maintaining the program website and online channels (including social media), with the guidance from the Associate Director of Admissions and Recruitment, and in conjunction with the Watson Institute communications team as appropriate; and, developing engaging content to encourage application, enrollment, and matriculation into the program among diverse and talented populations, and producing tracking data and reports to support evaluation and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities focused on alumni engagement will include: data mining alumni and career outcome data and generating insights on placement trends and another alumni outcomes; managing production of tri-annual alumni newsletter and other alumni communications; responding to inquiries from alumni and employers at all times
ensuring a positive experience for these audiences; with guidance from the Associate Director of Professional Development and Alumni Engagement, undertaking research and development projects to support the ongoing development of alumni-facing engagement opportunities and communications activity.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 1 year of related experience (or equivalent) in higher education administration, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Experience running programs and/or writing and distributing content for a public audience.

Demonstrated ability to confidently, tactfully, and independently field inquiries and time-sensitive, high-pressure questions from internal colleagues and external stakeholders
Enthusiastic commitment to the work of a graduate education or training program
Proficiency in working on projects and routine assignments with some autonomy and initiative following initial guidance on goals and expectations, including developing interim targets and generating suggestions and options to provide to supervisors and colleagues
Demonstrated proficiency with spreadsheets and reporting tools.
Demonstrated proficiency with Slate CRM (customer relations management) software or an equivalent CRM platform (proficiency with Slate and Handshake strongly preferred), and in creating and editing social media and email marketing content
Proficiency and appreciation of the importance of handling private, sensitive, or confidential student or alumni information appropriately
Demonstrated proficiency with Qualtrics or similar survey platforms/software
Willingness to support a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment.
* Possible evening and weekend work as needed for event and related coverage.
