Position Summary:
Performs all functions necessary to ensure accurate and timely data entry; including verification of insurance benefits for all observation and inpatient admissions.
Qualifications:
A. Education:
High School diploma or equivalent required. Medical terminology and Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
B. Training and Experience:
Two to Three years prior experience in medical field preferred.
Prior registration and/or business office experience recommended. Efficient math skills and deductive reasoning. Ability to communicate effectively. Computer experience required.
C. Job Knowledge:
General knowledge of medical business office practices. Knowledge of insurance benefits, prorating and coordination of benefits. Knowledge of equipment required for routine operations. Strong communication skills. Basic understanding of business application software. Ability to maintain calm temperament under stressful conditions.
VI. Unusual Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
Extended periods of sitting, extensive data entry, possible exposure to patients
with infectious disease.
