Responsible for the admission and registration process for incoming ambulatory surgical patients. Performs admitting activities and explains necessary information to patients to facilitate their safe and efficient entry to care in compliance with applicable standards. Coordinates with internal and external stakeholders including but not limited to physicians, surgical schedulers, other clinical departments, to facilitate proper patient care. Principal Accountabilities: 1. Greet and register patients in a courteous and professional manner, verifies patient identity, explains admitting procedure policies and regulations, verifies insurance benefits, secure patient signatures for required hospital forms and collection of patient’s financial responsibility when required. 2. Enters patient information into EPIC to facilitate seamless admission process for the patients 3. The registrar shall carry out all front desk duties, including but not limited to the telephones, registration, data entry, chart maintenance to provide for the day-to-day operations of the surgery center. 4. Ideal candidate will be able to adapt to changes in the work environment, meet shift expectations, and handle challenging customers, physician office personnel, and internal staff. 5. Fosters a positive and pleasant environment, which promotes our PRIDE Values. Consistently demonstrates a positive phone etiquette and answers calls in a timely manner. 6. Performs other related duties as assigned. 7. Must be able to work variable shifts according to the surgical schedule, the surgery center hours of operations and the staffing needs. Hours may be as early as 6am and as late at 7pm. 8. Will be required to rotate to other Morristown Medical center surgical facilities to assist with staffing as needed. QUALIFICATIONS: + Ability to comprehend established office/surgery center routines and policies. + Knowledge of medical terminology. + Understands the ethics of confidentiality. + Good organization skills. + Able to work well in a fast-paced environment. + Must be mobile (ADA). + Strong computer skills – Microsoft Office and medical registration/scheduling software. EPIC Required: 1. High School Diploma or equivalent. Preferred: 1.
