Job duties include overseeing all purchasing responsibilities (including but not limited to processing requests for payment, purchase orders, goods receipts, credit card purchases, supply orders, and associated files and recordkeeping) , making travel reservations for staff, maintaining asset inventory, financial and compliance records of multiple grant programs, maintaining department database of contacts and leads, fleet maintenance, and performing various administrative duties including but not limited to assisting the tourism industry and general public via phone and email requests, mail processing, and filing. Strong writing, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills are required. Knowledge of the AASIS/SAP system is preferred. A driving record check will be performed. Ability to establish and maintain filing systems and analyze documents to determine compliance with rules, regulations, and procedures. Knowledge of SAP/AASIS system is preferred. Position Information Class Code: P034C Grade: GS06 FLSA Status: EXEMPT Salary Range: $36,155.00 - $57,668.00 Summary The Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism (ADPT) Consultant is responsible for promoting tourism development and enterprise in Arkansas. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy. Functions Promotes the state's tourism industry by establishing and maintaining relationships with communities, organizations, and government agencies. Serves as consultant to communities and counties on issues pertaining to festival development, group and international travel, and tourism development programs. Assists in seeking, identifying, processing, and fulfilling requests and leads to tourism suppliers. Attends tradeshows, domestic and international marketplaces, and regional/national meetings as official department representative. Attends informational sessions to maintain knowledge of current and future issues that relate to group and international tourism efforts. Assists with the development and updating of meeting planner directories and websites. Assists in planning and hosting familiarization tours and statewide conferences. Assists in the administration of statewide grant programs. Performs other duties as assigned. Dimensions Occasional in and out-of-state travel is required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of Arkansas tourism products. Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of marketing. Knowledge of the travel and tourism industry. Ability to write promotional materials. Ability to coordinate meetings and lead workshops. Ability to organize and present clear and concise oral and written reports of findings and recommendations. Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with others. Minimum Qualifications The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in tourism, public relations, marketing, general business, or a related field; plus two years of experience in the travel or tourism industry or a related field. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management.
