Job Summary:
The Orthopedic Advanced Practice Provider APP is an independent health care provider who coordinates care through collaboration with the Orthopedic Surgeon as well as Medicine The PA or APN provides care in accordance with the objectives policies and procedures of the practice and the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Advisory Committee
The main function of this role is to provide consistent high quality perioperative and postoperative care for all orthopedic patients,
The APP will be expected to function as an active member of the surgery patient care team Responsibilities include surgical first assisting perioperative and postoperative management hospital rounds on inpatients and emergency room consultations The APP will be expected to work to the full extent of their licensure with an emphasis on supervised autonomy
Requirements:
3 years Orthopedic surgery experienceCurrent APN or RNFA or PA certificationCurrent NJ state license CDS and DEACurrent BLS and ACLS requiredScheduling Requirements:
Per DiemNight ShiftEssential Functions:
Perform history and physical examinations in preparation for surgical procedures,Order appropriate laboratory, radiologic and special diagnostic tests and interpret and report to surgical teamThe APP may be asked to see emergent consults in the ED and on the floorAssist with inpatient daily rounds as assigned This can include wound dressing changes, daily physical exams and addressing any concerns of the patients on the serviceThoroughly explains procedures to patients prior to testingPerform appropriate interpretation of laboratory and diagnostic testingResponsible for discharging patients in collaboration with the attendingDemonstrates strong organizational skills communicates effectively and demonstrates time managementReducing fractures and dislocations in the emergency departmentPerforms duties independently and coordinates care with the bedside nurse attending physician and other consulting providersCompassionately interacts with patients across different areas of careFirst assist in the operating roomPlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
