Advance Technician – Senior Telecom Technician

DOE Savannah River Site (SRS) processes and stores nuclear materials in support of national defense and U.S. nuclear nonproliferation efforts. The site also develops and deploys technologies to improve the environment and treat solid and liquid nuclear and hazardous wastes left from the Cold War. While current missions remain the highest priority, SRS leadership places great importance on developing broader missions for SRS that use its unique capabilities to address critical national missions. The Operation and Maintenance operator is Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS), as a Subcontractor to SRNS, Amentum provides telecommunications system operation and maintenance services as well as site operator services at SRS. This position supports Amentum's operation and maintenance program managing the voice and data services at the Savannah River site.

Responsibilities\: 
Perform daily surveillance and maintenance on Avaya Aura communications platform. Equipment is located at various sites across approximately 310 square miles at Savannah River Site.  Deploy local and area paging, base and handheld radio circuits, security alarms systems, T-1 Trunks, water monitoring, and Gig, 100, and 10 BaseT Ethernet. Diagnose, problem solve, and repair the Avaya equipment and special circuit issues.  Coordinate and problem solve with GE power system and battery plants. Support Ciena OM6500 transport equipment. Install subscriber telephone lines and troubleshoot with outside technicians on repair of telephone lines. Maintain lines, trunks, and software translations for routing and charging.  Receive, recognize, and respond to maintenance messages and system alarms; analyze the maintenance messages or condition causing the alarm and correct the condition by performing or arranging for component-level repair of the system, if necessary.  Provide service order activity associated with analog and digital telephone service, and IP service.  Perform change verification for all telephone services and voice mail features.

* Network/Telecommunications experience minimum 5 years Minimum high school diploma Must be a U.S. Citizen Must have a current driver’s license Must pass an alcohol and substance abuse test Must be able to pass to obtain DOE Clearance Must be able to work flexible hours

Physical Requirements\:

Must be able to lift, up to 50 lbs.  Stand on your feet for extended periods of time.
