The incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor. The incumbent may be expected to work in the office on occasion. This position is anticipated for up to 4 months, and will work up to 39 hours during the summer and part-time during the school year (if applicable). This position supports the Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) Program Manager in the Office of Aeronautics. Responsibilities include working directly with the AAM Program Manager to plan for new & emerging aviation technologies, collaborating cross-departmentally within the office to implement strategic plans, and supporting stakeholder engagement efforts. In addition to AAM initiatives, this position will support other aviation planning initiatives, including supporting the continuous aviation system planning process, airport planning efforts, zoning projects, or other planning-related specialty projects. ** The Minnesota Department of Transportation does not sponsor applicants for work visas or Optional Practical Training Extensions for STEM Students. Individuals must be legally authorized to work in the US at the start of employment. **Minimum Qualifications** Applicants must be current students enrolled in Aerospace Engineering or a closely related aviation field at a secondary, post-secondary, or graduate school. Other qualifications include: + Data analysis and research skills. + Experience with Microsoft applications such as Excel or Word. Applicants must be students in a college/university, trade, or technical school. If a student is enrolled at a credit-granting institution, they must carry at least six semester (nine quarter) credits. If enrolled at a non-credit granting institution or one that only offers one credit per class, a student must be taking two or more classes per semester/quarter. Any lesser credit (class) load shall be treated as a semester/quarter off. Graduate students must be enrolled in at least two courses or making progress on a dissertation. You will be required to complete an Education Verification form before appointment. **Preferred Qualifications** + Knowledge of Minnesota Statutes and Rules of aeronautics. + Knowledge of airport management or management of an aviation-related business. + Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate (small Unmanned Aircraft Systems) or Part 61 Pilot Certificate (any rating). **Additional Requirements** **Successful candidate must pass past-employer reference checks and criminal history check** It is our policy that all candidates submit to a background investigation prior to employment.
