Position Summary
T he Advanced Concepts Designer is responsible for creating innovative product designs in accordance with the strategic plans of the Product Development department. The Advanced Concepts Design team is the creative engine of the New Era brand. This team is consistently in the marketplace and focused on delivering new headwear concepts that engage current and new consumer segments. Advanced Concepts Designers are consistently executing design deliverables for key brand driver products. This position executes all design needs per go-to-market project in accordance with direction from the Advanced Concepts Design Director.
The Advanced Concepts Designer will be expected to draw inspiration from their dynamic living environment by immersing themselves in their surrounding culture. First-hand market research of evolving trends will inform product designs. The location for this position is remote, based in NYC. The candidate will need to reside in New York, NY and travel to New Era Global Headquarters located in Buffalo, NY as needed.
Responsibilities
+ Responsible for the design execution of specific projects in relationship to product plans
+ Assists in the design and development of new product categories, silhouettes, and styles
+ Designs headwear for e-commerce channel, key brand stories, and key collaborations
+ In alignment with senior direction, helps define seasonal trends, colors, silhouettes, and graphics for translation into seasonal programs, official/authentic programs, key account customs, etc.
+ Collaborates with Core Design, Product Line Management, Product Operations and Sourcing teams to design product that aligns to cost, pricing, and margin framework
+ Understands licensed sports marketplace trends, effectively communicates trends to various groups, and leads design processes to execute product which is trend appropriate
+ Understands lifestyle fashion marketplace and leading brands, trends, and influencers
+ Executes custom design sessions with key accounts and special retail partners
+ Meets or exceeds timelines associated with merchandising calendars
+ Keep all sensitive matters confidential
+ Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
+ Understands licensed sports marketplace and headwear consumer, and can transform those insights into commercial designs
+ Demonstrates a strong graphic ability in custom logo and wordmark design
+ Demonstrates an understanding of how shape and material translate into headwear products
+ Leads collaboration with cross functional teams and product critiques
+ Pro-actively manages change with urgency and persistence
+ Proficient in individually managing multiple projects daily while meeting established deadlines
+ Demonstrates excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
+ Ability to speak accurately, intelligently, and persuasively to external customers
+ Represents the brand in all actions and decisions
+ Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop)
+ Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel required
+ Experience with PLM preferred
Education and Experience
+ Bachelor s degree in Graphic Design, Fashion Design or Communication Arts preferred; additional experience in lieu of a degree considered
+ Five (5) to Ten (10) years of Product Design experience or equivalent combination or education and experience
+ Knowledge of sportswear or apparel industry preferred
+ Portfolio provided on resume
+ Must reside in NYC and travel to New Era Global Headquarters located in Buffalo, NY as needed
Travel Requirement
+ 0-40%; domestic travel to Headquarters and within marketplace as needed

The salary range for this posted position is $90,000 - $130,000 (plus bonus & benefits) and may be adjusted based on local markets. Actual compensation is determined by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, education, essential job duties and requirements, and necessary experience.
