As an Advanced Hardware Engineer here at Honeywell, you will be part of a team of subject matter experts in EEE Components. We provide electronic parts knowledge and technical expertise to meet part requirements throughout the product development and life cycle. The Component Engineer is responsible for providing knowledge and expertise in selection, specification, application, and qualification of electronic parts for use in high reliability applications.

This position will require interfacing with, and leading design teams to assure reliable application of parts and interfacing with suppliers to assess part performance.

\nYou will report directly to our Hardware Engineering Manager, and you will work out of our Clearwater, Florida location.  This role is eligible for hybrid work mode, except for the first 90 days.

Key Responsibilities

\n\n\n\tCollaborate with various engineering functional teams to select EEE components for high reliability applications\n\tLead and Perform EEE Component Selection and Validation efforts\n\tLead and Perform EEE Component Failure Investigations\n\tPerform Part Assessments\n\tPerform specification review\n\tSupport customer discussions on critical product and/ or process design\n\tSupport estimation efforts for customer proposals\n\tDevelop specifications that define screening and qualification requirements of EEE components\n\tCommunicate any non-compliance incidents to pertinent parties\n\tUse engineering tools to perform part assessments and obsolescence analysis\n\tExecute project subtasks in order to meet customer specifications (designing, testing, etc)\n\tIdentify areas for technical improvement using engineering knowledge and principals\n\tTravel within US and/ or internationally may be required - 10%\n\n\n

YOU MUST HAVE

\n\n\n\tBachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics\n\t6+ years of experience in hardware design and development\n\tStrong knowledge of hardware design ethics and methodologies\n\tExperience with component testing and validation\n\tExcellent problem-solving and thoughtful skills\n\tMust be able to read, write and speak English\n\tStrong communication and collaboration abilities\n\n\n

\n\n\n\tParts Management, Parts Specialist or Component Engineering background and experience\n\tExperience managing EEE parts control programs and delivering results on space programs\n\tTechnical knowledge of a broad range of space rated EEE part commodities and their specifications\n\tFamiliarity with military specifications (e.g. MIL-PRF-19500) and standards (e.g. MIL-STD-883) for EEE components\n\tUnderstanding of physics behind EEE part construction such as die material, substrate, package, etc.\n\tCapability to apply broad knowledge of one professional discipline or advanced knowledge of specific technical/operational practices\n\tMaster's Degree or advanced professional certification\n\tSecurity Clearance\n\tInfluential communication skills and experience with customer, executive, and industry forum presentations and publications\n\tKnowledge of product and/or process technologies\n\tIndividuals who are self-motivated and able to work with little supervision\n\tAbility to consistently demonstrate business impact and continuous drive for improvement\n\tAbility to influence customers and cross-functional teams to deliver optimal outcomes\n\tAbility to consistently make timely decisions and balancing systematic analysis with decisiveness in an ambiguous environment\n\tAbility to teach, mentor, and develop subject matter expertise in others\n\tClearly and concisely convey subtle or complex messages to a variety of audiences\n\tCapability to follow guidelines and ensure efficiency on given project tasks\n\n\n
