Job Summary
Under the supervision of a physician, manages the care of patients through the performance of a wide variety of health care services, such as patient care tasks, diagnostic procedures, and therapeutic procedures, to include admissions, inpatient follow-up, and discharges. Oversees daily duties of Advanced Practice Professionals (APP’s), assisting with block scheduling as well as coordination of daily assignments. Works with the Medical Director and Corporate Director of Physician Services on a routine basis to optimize Hospital Medicine services to CAMC and patients, to include Evidence-Based Care.
Responsibilities
• The Lead Advanced Practice Professional shall, under appropriate direction and supervision by a Physician, augment the Physician's data gathering abilities in order to assist the supervising Physician in reaching decisions and instituting care plans for the Physician's patients. A Physician Assistant shall have, as a minimum, the knowledge and competency to perform the following functions and may under appropriate supervision perform them; this list is not intended to be specific of all-inclusive: Screen patients to determine need for medical attention. Review patient records to determine health status. Take a patient history. Record pertinent patient data. Make decisions regarding data gathering and appropriate management and treatments of patients being seen for the initial evaluation of a problem or the follow-up evaluation of a previously diagnosed and stabilized condition. Prepare patient summaries. Initiate requests for commonly performed initial laboratory and radiological studies. Identify normal and abnormal findings in history, physical examination, and commonly performed laboratory studies. Initiate appropriate evaluation and emergency management for emergency situations; i.e., cardiac arrest, respiratory distress, neurological conditions. Readily assist and perform assigned tasks in accordance with good medical judgment and departmental procedures. Demonstrate a working knowledge of anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, medical terminology, and abbreviations. Perform work in accordance with all departmental pay practices and scheduling policies, including but not limited to, overtime and various shift work. • Additional Responsibilities of Lead Advanced Practice Professional for Emergency Room: To assist the Site Director in improving the workflow pertaining to mid-level practitioners to improve Emergency Department workflow. To coordinate weekly duties/responsibilities for APP’s, as appropriate To assist in the recruitment and retention of new APP’s, and orient and train new APP’s To provide additional APP training/education when needed. To aid in overseeing annual licensure and credentialing requirements pertaining to APP’s Assist the site director in maintaining competencies according to CAMC standards. Assures that all mid-levels in department maintain education and competencies. To oversee the integrity of the clinical documentation of APP’s in electronic medical record. To oversee the integrity of the clinical documentation related to Evidence Based Care for ED medicine patients. To assist the Program Assistant in proper Time reporting of APP’s for payroll purposes. Assures that all information from committees, workgroups and projects is communicated to all members of the department. Assists in overseeing the integrity of the clinical documentation of mid-levels in electronic medical record.

Education
• Master's Degree (Required) Experience: 1 Year Experience in CAMC’s Hospital Medicine program Substitution: May Substitute formalized training PA for master's degree in nursing Comment: All incumbents must be approved by the credentialing process with Medical Affairs prior to their start date in this position.
