Advanced Practice Provider in Breast Surgical Oncology
MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider for our Breast Surgical Oncology team. This can be an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) / Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA). One year of surgery experience if highly preferred but we are open to New Grads! APRNs must hold a Registered Nurse First Assist (RNFA) Certification to be considered.
The APP will support The Woodlands, Northwest Houston, and The Medical Center locations.
Key Responsibilities:
Comprehensive Patient Assessment: Conduct assessments throughout the continuum of care in surgical, inpatient, and ambulatory settings. Patient Care & Management: Provide care for oncology patients from diagnosis through survivorship, including consultations, follow-ups, and management of symptoms. EPIC Proficiency: Use EPIC for documentation, ordering studies, and patient communication. Collaboration: Coordinate multidisciplinary care, particularly for surgery scheduling, and engage with local medical teams. Outpatient Clinic: Initiate evaluations, educate patients and families, manage treatment side effects, and provide counseling. Surgical Involvement: Assist in operating room procedures and manage pre- and post-operative patient care. Continuous Learning: Participate in institutional meetings, safety initiatives, and professional development Technical Proficiency: Perform minor surgical tasks, such as wound care and biopsies. Communication: Educate patients, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and participate in tumor board discussions. Research & Development: Engage in clinical research and contribute to oncology guidelines and quality initiatives.

EDUCATION
Required: Degree requirements as defined by the Texas Board of Nursing (BON) or Texas State Board of Physician Assistant Examiners (TSBPAE) as required for clinical licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant.
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION
Required: Written authorization from the Texas Board of Nursing (BON) or Texas State Board of Physician Assistant Examiners (TSBPAE) to function as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant. Related authorization must be consistent with clinical practice area and patient population. Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
MAY BE REQUIRED: Eligible to be granted limited prescriptive authority by the State of Texas.
Must meet the American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) , ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) if working in one of following department: Pediatrics - Patient Care (113100).
