The Glenn Biggs Institute for Alzheimer's & Neurodegenerative Diseases (Biggs Institute) at the Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider ideally with training in Behavioral/ Geriatric/ Dementia/ Vascular/ or Movement Disorders.  The specialist faculty position will be in the Biggs Dementia Clinic and Clinical Research Core at the Biggs Institute and Research Center, 1937 E. Bustamante St., Laredo, TX.

We are seeking an advanced practice provider interested in combining creative, comprehensive, compassionate clinical care for a broad range of memory and cognitive disorders, as part of a multi-disciplinary team of neurologists, neuropsychologists, nurses, social workers, geriatricians, geriatric psychiatrists, therapists, counselors, and care manager. Providers with experience caring for persons with Alzheimer's disease or other dementias, or other neurological specialties are particularly welcome.   

The Biggs Institute, led by founding Director, Dr. Sudha Seshadri is a  flagship institute within the Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine with the mission of establishing an interdisciplinary, integrated program to provide comprehensive clinical care and undertake innovative and important research into the prevention and treatment of Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative conditions, including vascular contributions to dementia, Parkinson's and Lewy body dementia, chronic traumatic encephalopathy and frontotemporal dementia. The Institute currently provides clinical care a few times a month at the UT Education and Research Center at Laredo and we are looking to expand our clinical service and clinical research footprint in Laredo. 
 
The Biggs Institute was designated in 2021 as an NIA funded South Texas ADRC (Alzheimer's Disease Research Center) in partnership with the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.  The Institute has strong institutional and community support, substantial philanthropic and NIH funding, and will benefit from existing resources within UTHSA such as the Barshop Institute for Longevity and Aging Studies, the Center for Biomedical Neuroscience, the Research Imaging Institute along with the San Antonio campus of the UT Health Houston School of Public Health.
